A prototype flying car. Cool video.

Wed Jun 30, 2021 10:55 am

The hybrid car-aircraft, AirCar, is equipped with a BMW engine and runs on regular petrol-pump fuel.
Its creator, Prof Stefan Klein, said it could fly about 1,000km (600 miles), at a height of 8,200ft (2,500m), and had clocked up 40 hours in the air so far.

A niche market I think but it does look the part.

I think this is more realistic than self driving vehicles.

Could be used in a James Bond movie.

Reminds me of the villain's vehicle (Dr. Claw) from the "Inspector Gadget" series in the '80s: car, jet, and sub.

It had the registration of a plane though. I wonder what the cops would note it under for any road related issues.

Another one, a nice one.
Wonder if it will escape the so so aircraft, so so car syndrome for multiple the price of a good car+ a good aircraft.

Superb graphics & ignoring physics & ATC gave us dozens of gamechanging flying cars over the years, all around the corner in terms of introduction. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgeMJ1hX9KI

That said this one is a nice one. The folding mechanism of the wings, controls and tail are no easy faith to make lite & meeting aircraft requirements. Plus it actually flies!

In the US, they would be working real hard to tax it as both a car and aircraft.
