Southwest at KPAE??

Sun Jul 25, 2021 3:10 am

Just now watched a SW 737 on final..I live in Lynnwood. As I do not think civilian 737s are worked on there, and UA leaving, are they interested in slots?

There’s a maintenance facility at PAE that WN and other carriers use. Has nothing to do with airline revenue service at PAE. I’ve seen AA and HA airplanes there too.

WN has on average 6 or 7 aircraft a week going thru MX at PAE at any given time.
In addition as WN starts retiring it’s 737-700NG in bigger numbers your going to see quite a few WN birds flying into PAE to take on a new life.

ATS has a substantial facility there. It's a highly-regarded MRO, with facilities also at Moses Lake and in the former TWA technical faciliy at MCI. Lots of carriers use ATS for a variety of services. The Amazon 738 freighters that are operated by Sun Country, for example, all are worked on at ATS.

As far as WN maintenance at PAE goes, take a look at the photo on this page, and look at whose distinctive livery appears on several aircraft being serviced at ATS in PAE.

Here's a video of a pilot's trip taking an empty WN 737 to PAE for MX: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRDNO4z-Uog
