Also have seen two IL-76s departing KBL on RT’s airport webcam. Too far away to be able to tell whom they belong to. Their climb out was even shallower than Kam’s A340.

I thought these airplanes were all Russian Air Force repatriating citizens of Russia and Ukraine.

Ukraine was using their own IL-76 for their citizens though. I really doubt Russia is flying Ukrainians out.

There were 3 IL76, 1 IL62. 508 Russian citizens evacuated + citizens of Belarus, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan on board plus a group of Ukrainians. Also diplomatic staff from some central Asian "-stan" countries asked Russia to evacuate their diplomatic staff.

One IL76 flew to Dushanbe and the others to the Russian Aerospace Forces base Kant in Kyrgyzstan before continuing to Chkalovsky Airbase outside Moscow.

More flights planned for near future.

One of Ukrainian Il-76's (apparently, there was more than one) did two movements out of KBL within 24hrs. First, it shuttled locals to a place in Iran. Depending on who you listen to, either done under duress, or as a favor/mercy mission to save local Shia's from imminent danger of Taliban.

From my information - the crew of the IL76 (plus obviously some select people in the Ukrainian chain of command) didn't waste their time and decided to make some cash while they were in Kabul and did a quick rotation to Iran that they wanted to keep quiet about ;)

There is something sketchy with this. I don't think it's the 727 and is something else using that hex. It was MLAT tracked out of Nairobi and then supposedly sat tracked landing at Kulob 15 minutes later. Impossible. There are many other similar discrepancies, including several showing it cruising at FL410 which is impossible for a 727. FR for today seems to indicate whatever it is, was at Kabul 0643z to 0730z, so if anyone follows the webcams they may be able to ID it.

That 727 is close to Kabul now!

I've heard the same. However, as the providence of that particular rumour is from Russia, we can safely dismiss any risk of significant contamination of this rumour with excessive content of truth. As is usual.

A friend of mine who's a FO on the IL76 in the Aerospace Forces confirmed for me this information. He was on one of the aircraft that flew in couple days back. And they also had Ukrainian citizens on board that weren't picked up by the Ukrainian IL76.

A Royal Norwegian Air Force C-130J Hercules has been operating in Kabul, evacuating people between Kabul and Tblisi. So far 1000 people are evacuated by 13 flights.

The last flight was this afternoon. I believe there are still Norwegians running and operating the field hospital at Kabul airport.

Lots of twitter reports that US Forces are withdrawing from Kabul Airport tonight, and that the Taliban have taken control if the military side now. No more civilians will be evacuated.

I believe they have said all along that they would have to transition to getting the military out on or by Friday in order to meet the 8/31 deadline, so I don't think this is any surprise move or that it will happen in one night. Per the above AFP Twitter stream there may still be civilians inside the airport processed and waiting to be evacuated so they'd still have to get them out also.

Pentagon is saying no.

Aug 27 (Reuters) - Taliban forces have taken up position in Kabul airport and are ready to take full control as early as this weekend, as soon as U.S. forces leave, two senior Taliban figures said on Friday.

"As soon as the Americans leave, they just have to give us the signal and we will then take over," he said. "This can be done as early as this weekend."

I wonder what kind of deal was there between Kam Air and Iran, that Kam Air frames were ferried to Iran empty. The scramble to get out of KBL is... well, a scramble. We saw that there are Shia's in Afghanistan, fearing for their lives, and ready to pull strings and favours, to get out. Did Iran agree to accept the planes, but without the pax?

Up to last month, Kam Air used to lease (wetlease, apparently) at least a couple of frames at Ukrainian Wings:
https://www.airfleets.net/ficheapp/plane-b737-28052.htm
https://www.airfleets.net/ficheapp/plane-b737-25182.htm
So KBP must be very familiar to them

Hey many years ago I was at one point a broadcast TV camera person/production assistant in studios and the field for some time also a talent. The tracking shot of the C-17 landing (camera operator shifts from covering the airfield to the final approach and very smoothly tracks the aircraft through flare and l-o-n-g roll down the runway (seems relatively high speed?) -- and keeps focus / frame all the time !!

A.nuts take note in how to track aircraft with any imaging sensor. Any background on the Reuters feed / video crew / how they stream out of Kabul? . Too bad no time code, but I am sure the original stream has the timecodes embedded. I love timecodes

But (too late now) wasn't there a persistent risk of missiles if bad guys had access to that same vicinity at a high elevation over the runway ...

@Moderators: are there any plans to move this thread to the military forum, now that there are no more evacuation charter flights anymore? Or to start a separate thread about the evacuation of the air base?

Just asking. It will be very interesting to see how they will get the remaining soldiers out of Kabul but I guess this is not the correct forum…

Not so fast though.... ZS-TGY a 737-500 looks to in bound via Muscat to Pakistan likely to Islamabad. Almost certainly linked to the evacuation efforts in Kabul.

Seems like Kamair have 4 of their aircraft on the ground in Mazar for the last 12 hours plus. 2 x A340's KMH/U and 2 x B733s KMK/L.

Mazar has a lot more parking space available right now compared to Kabul. Probably a lot safer for them too.

Moderators don’t kill this thread it’s one of the only interesting threads here right now

Unconfirmed on twitter, but suggestions that ZS-TGY might be the Pen Farthing/Nowzad animal charter. Just airborne from Kabul, heading South West, so likely towards the UAE/Qatar rather than Tashkent.

I fully agree and by no means did I suggest to „kill“ this thread.

We shall see… I just asked for clarification when the hot phase starts.

ZS-TGY just left Kabul.

Continued ray of light of possible evacuations, even when foreign militaries depart Kabul airport: the draft deal between Taliban, Turkey and Qatar establishes a framework on future operations of Kabul Airport. Key message, as far as hopes for evacuation: Turkey refused to participate with technical expertise in airport operations, unless it also had security presence.
As a result, Turkey will have a quasi-military footprint within Kabul airport.

What exactly that portends for possible continued evacuation? Mass exodus, unabated? Disciplined, but public departures? Or an "underground railroad"? Or nothing? remains to be seen.

Seems that the OperationArk flight was carried out in the end by Uzbek Airlines with a 767 from Tashkent.

Global X just completed KEF-BGR-MIA back home in Miami... Any idea how many sets of crew (pilots/FA) were needed for this operations? Did they had a (temporarily) "crew-base" at DYU?

Great info, thank you!

PK234, a 77W from Dubai, has just landed at Mazar I Sharif. It came in from the north and avoided as much Afghan airspace as possible

...Turkey and Qatar will jointly operate the Kabul international airport, with Ankara providing security through a private firm, according to a draft deal with the Taliban in Afghanistan, two sources familiar with the issue told Middle East Eye on Saturday...
