Paris Airports

Sun Sep 19, 2021 12:25 pm

I noticed that some aircraft that fly to Paris Le Bourget (LBG) sometimes switch to Vatry (XCR) or Beauvais (BVA) and vice-versa. My question is, why do they sometimes prefer an airport 20+ miles out of the city instead of just using the airport which is already in the city. Is it because of logistical reasons? Is Le Bourget sometimes congested enough to not allow other aircraft to park there?

What kind of aircraft are you talking about ?

LBG is only used by private aircraft (and official ones occasionally) not scheduled carriers. Vatry is mostly for cargo, it's nowhere near Paris, it's half way towards Germany/Luxembourg/Belgium.

BVA is Ryanair and a couple other low costs.

Paris' actual airports for most people are neither of these, they're CDG and ORY.
