When booking DUB - EDI the fare types listed state that you get 7KG cabin bag with Emerald but on the final page it states 10KG checked bag . Very confusing for passengers.

Id never consider EI to ZRH where LX is available. Their J class is one of the best intra European especially on routes like DUB - ZRH . They currently have some good Biz fares from DUB - ZRH for €300 return . Im very tempted for a February mini break.

Flew BA Club Europe back yesterday and was a pretty ok experience . I do like their catering . Its their strong point over EI and Aerspace although the trade off is the A330/A321NEO flatbed seat if you choose those flights to DUB . On BHD there is no trade off and BA wins.

You're not wrong there, SWISS are amazing in business class. I was - and still am - blown away by my August 2020 trip TLS-ZRH-DUB. God that was great couple of flights!

BA are pretty okay in Club Europe and the price is generally not stupid, which is always good.

I flew in November and no bother on the outbound, the UK treats Irish citizens the same as their own. You don't need anything special going over, and coming back it's just the Irish PLF as you say. Simple and easy, you won't have any issues going back and forth. It's pretty seamless.

In relation to Aer Lingus joining the JV with AA/BA etc, will we possibly see aer lingus codeshares in the future with Finnair too? Will this happen in Aer Lingus too?

It will happen eventually, but they'll probably be one of the last as there's no real advantage to it other than booking engine availability. Strategically it doesn't make a huge amount of sense for a HEL-based passenger to transit through DUB so there's no real driver there, FI already flies to a lot of EI's US destinations, and it probably makes more sense to connect through LHR or one of AA's US hubs to get to everywhere else as there are many more options both timing- and destination-wise. BA already codeshare on EI metal across the Atlantic, AA will be next as their just-launched codeshare agreement expands, and then we'll likely see IB followed by FI or the two together.

Would be good for Cork if Vueling launched BCN, Aer Lingus made it work up to x5 weekly for a long time.

Was it ever explained why Aer Lingus are operating Vueling flights with an A330? It's a bizarre choice of aircraft considering the route. They must be near empty considering the prices at the moment. Would an A320 not have made more sense?

Long story short, Vueling are slot holding at ORY. Apparently the slots were for a larger capacity aircraft (I believe a high capacity 321NEO) and as they are lacking any in their fleet the EI 330 will fit the bill for the time being!

20 years does seem utterly disproportionate.

A hefty fine, a few months behind bars and a blacklisting would seem more appropriate here. He doesn’t deserve to have his life taken from him as a result of some drunken antics. There’s no indication he’s a raging criminal beyond rehabilitation.

From the article :

" He appeared before a judge in New York a week later and was charged with "intentionally assaulting and intimidating a member of a flight crew," according to a criminal complaint unsealed yesterday."

I don't think assault is drunken antics ? Everyone on that flight deserves to feel safe and thats why laws are in place specific to Aviation.

His troubles will not end at a conviction. He will probably get added to the Federal No Fly list if some of the actions reported are true and accurate.
This account is more disturbing as it reports him squaring up to the pilot. Not a good choice to challenge or raise your fist to the pilot.

Additionally, he will not have a pleasant time if sent to Federal prison.

This story has developed some legs with US national media now giving it coverage.
Quotes from his social media don't indicate a high level of concern.

"In his Instagram profile McInerney describes himself as a sportsperson, former professional football player, coach and qualified personal trainer.
Reports suggest he was flying to the US to take a job teaching football at an academy in Daytona, Florida.
He shared a picture of himself at Daytona Beach, earlier this week, telling followers: "Great to be back in the sunshine state.
"Blessed to call this place home for the next few months."
McInerney appeared in court last week and has been released on bail."

Gallows humour or blissful ignorance?

The US justice system is unforgiving and unpredictable! What we call craic they call assault. It may well have been antics and certainly stupid but since 8/11 thw aviation laws have changed significantly. If I travel to the US now especially airports I never get angry or raise my voice even, no matter how right I might be in any given situation. It is simply a very different legal system.

Do we know what possessed him to be such an idiot?

Personally I think anyone who acts the maggot on a plane deserves to have the book thrown at them but lets face it, just a quick look through his FB profile its very easy to see that one way or the other this chaps career ambitions are destroyed for good!

Even if he doesn’t serve a prison sentence he will most certainly be deported back to Ireland with a ban on re entry to the US which will have a hugely negative impact on his coaching career ambitions never mind the job he had intended to take up in Daytona.

What I don’t understand his how he already has pics up of himself chilling on the beach in Florida the day this was supposed to have happened! Maybe he got a little ahead of himself! Lol

Feckin eejit!

Your point Eagleboy?
My first flight with Aer Lingus was in June 1968! Did you imagine Irish people didnt fly in the mid/late 1980?

That EI do not operate any 100 seat aircraft is the proof! And it is not that they wouldnt have access to some in the IAG group, there appears to be no interest!

However it has to be possible to defend ones opinion! What is toxic about saying one flew before 1980? It is aviation related.

Hi Tonystan, I'd be completely in agreement. Feels very toxic and I'm tired of the repetitive bashing of Aer Lingus by many who describe the ideal world where there should be x y z routes, aircraft type etc. The people who run the airline see the commercial end of it and do the best they have with what they have to work with. These have be horrific times. As somebody who relies on this industry for my livelihood, I look now to a better future.

I must say the monthly summary by Kaitak is excellent and relevant. Also some great contributions.

I see EI are selling SNN-BOS and SNN-JFK from Mar.10 and 11 respectively, but the early morning SNN-LHR-SNN rotation (using one of the T/A aircraft) resumes on Mar.26 and wonder if this schedule is likely to operate as advertised. Looking forward to the return of the early morning SNN-LHR service as the timing is great for connections at LHR.
Curious why the early SNN-LHR would not return when the T/A ops restart, given that the equipment will be available. Would think EI would be chasing all possible revenue streams. Crew issues/shortages maybe?

They have slashed their schedule out of DUB for April and May with just some random dates and flights.
Its so random I cant even begin to post as its so erratic just like their refunds process from the last 18 months.

TK has larger dollar earnings than it has dollar costs, so the airline is actually making money by exchanging dollars into more and more Lira.

For details see the TK thread:

And now for the (near) weekly KIR-DUB passenger load factor update (!); I flew on the FR6678 this morning with about 50 other passengers (26% pax load factor). I'm using this service a lot more since FR took it over and enjoying it while I can before they inevitably pull the plug. While I do feel a bit guilty about my carbon footprint, the time saving, convenience and price (I paid €25 for a weekend return trip) are unparalleled getting to and from the nation's capital.

Who would want to get the train to Farranfore in comparisson to that. I'd expect there are fewer Unsociables on the plane than the train too.

I don't disagree with you - I used the ORK-DUB a fair amount when FR were running it. I think it was 4x daily at the peak and fares were often about €9.99. I did quite a few ORK-DUB-LBA's on Sunday evenings. This was around the time Pier D was being built and the Ryanair flights went from that collection of portakabins, which I think were accessed through the original terminal?
How do you find getting to your final destination though, I never found flying all that much quicker than the train from Cork? I guess if you are not bound for the city centre anyway, its less of an issue.

Sorry if I missed it but has TAP suspended Dublin flights for the summer season?

I always thought they had an over ambitious schedule including a costly night stop.

Looking for some advice. Relative of mine booked a saver fare with EI. Decided to cancel the whole flight very quickly after booking. Is there a 24 hour window from time of booking, where the person can cancel the booking and get a full refund? It's like a "cooling off period". Said relative, contacted EI and was told the "saver fare" was non-refundable. Case closed. Are they right?
