The number of Chinese MAX rollouts seems to be picking up, Boeing must be confident they’ll start taking delivery soon!

So they are taking 81 max 8s ?

That is not what I said.

Note that includes options. Right now 79 are firm (+14 delivered) and 52 are options, although it’s highly likely AS will firm them at some point.

According to Simple Flying, they are exercising their options with this order update:

SimpleFlying is sh*t. Press release from the airline still says options. Nothing has been firmed up. They are just pushing false narratives once again.

.....in which they will become whitetail. Just like Iran Airs orders it will be written off or force majeure, whatever the Boeing legal department comes up with.

One party cannot unilaterally decide what to do on a contract. They are far more complicated.

Oddly the registration is N1801U which was the first United DC-8. I guess by now United has let the registration expire.

Yes the N18-99U block is reserved by WN and there's about a dozen of them populated now, all were destined for SpiceJet via lessors. I don't have confirmation yet, but the stars are definitely aligning.

Thanks, Rob! I figured if anyone would have any remote idea where they were coming from, it would be you.

Rudder will be replaced at BFI.

Thanks again, Rob!

I'm also curious if the newly-announced special tail #s and liveries (N871HK, N872CB) are going to be from this batch of spicejet white tails or new builds. (I was very surprised to see N8752Q roll out. I didn't realize there were any new-build -8s coming this year.) Haven't been able to find anything searching the reg #s so there's probably no way to tell which batch they're coming from.

Oddly the registration is N1801U which was the first United DC-8. I guess by now United has let the registration expire.

This was brought up in another thread….. going to see a few UA DC8 registrations on the WN MAX

I was on-board TF-ICE, definitely sure of that.

However, as it was dark out it could have been that I actually saw -ICR which is in the new scheme with the slightly different mint color.

The registrations for the SpiceJets are already assigned and live so I don't see any of the SpiceJets being the N871HK or N872CB, although there are still 3 outstanding SpiceJet frames with ICBC Leasing which I don't know their fate yet.

WN have a LOT of 8s and 7s coming out of the factory starting April - May.

Arajet has been identified as the airline behind the order for 20 737 MAX from January 2022.

The order is for the 737-8-200 model.

https://boeing.mediaroom.com/2022-03-14 ... 7-MAX-Jets

Confirmed in the press release, their first 737 was delivered at the start of this month. A 737-8 leased from Griffin Global Asset Management, which is probably also one of the unidentified customers.

The 1st Chinese #737MAX since the grounding in China is heading to the Zhoushan Completion & Delivery center as BOE631. This is a new build for Shanghai Airlines.

Great news (and picture)!. Hopefully this means we will start seeing MAX deliveries in China - there certainly are a lot to deliver and Boeing keeps pushing them out.

WN 8s are coming out already. WN 7s should start probably towards end of April - May time. UA 9s around mid April or so. :)

Because the FAA has not finished signing off on it yet.

Yes - As I believe the MAX 7 should be getting its certification fairly soon.

IIRC, the new Desert Gold retro will be delivered sometime summer, so count backwards to guess when it'll roll out

Its behind a (free) paywall

But AW is reporting that Boeing is behind on it's end of this.

Yeah, this one looks like Boeing has incomplete tasks, but the article did not comment on it.... It' basically 8 paragraphs about any and everything related to MAX.. with just the 1 sentence where Boeing admits to needing to complete a few taksks on it's end ... no blame being shifted to FAA for delays...

So yeah... there's that... so much for the MAX-7 being a simple MAX-8 shrink with just a few fore and aft of wing fuselage plugs removed.

According to an article by Jon Ostrower of the Air Current - Boeing is throttling back production of 737 MAX for the China market.

I don’t have a subscription, but I imagine this opens up a lot of capacity for sales of those tails (I don’t see Boeing slowing production).

Do you know the line numbers for the other two, or any others?
Have they been returned for storage until Chinese deliveries start again?
