UA is exploring adding TPA/MCO to MCI with their new bases. Would be nice to have a full service carrier to Florida since DL ended MCO years ago. It's all LCC/ULCC currently.

It is kind of a confusingly written statement. I think mainly because it was directed to the pilot group, not the public. The list of cities including MCI is used as an example for where the pilot flying lines may end up, not for new nonstop service. It is stated that flying lines will touch a hub first and then on to those cities (i.e. MCO-EWR-MCI, MCO-IAH-MCI). No service changes are predicted from this unfortunately, just where the pilots will start their days.

How long does JetBlue take before expanding new cities?

I just flew them to JFK on Thursday. The flight was empty. I wouldn’t even give it a 50% load factor. I’m going to be honest as much as I love having them on the JFK-MCI route I don’t see it lasting. The lack of pax was concerning, even for a new station.

Was this one of the flights that got upguaged to a 320 or 321?

Alaska seems to have done well in KC by providing service to an unserved/underserved market that was growing. JetBlue is serving markets already served well. Disappointed that they’re europe service is not price competitive. High prices and minimal connectivity is not a winning recipe.

No it was an A220. Very empty. My JFK-MCI flight tomorrow is looking much more full and it’s an A320.

Okay, here’s a weird one. DL is upgauging JFK-MCI to mainline effective March 9 and it seems to run through the first part of April. I don’t know what is justifying the upgauge, but it’s on the schedule.

Do you think B6 just needs more time to build up the market? How did AS and NK perform during their first year in KC? Business travel hasn't fully recovered yet and the airline is still relatively unknown to KC.

I’ll give you the lack of brand recognition. Not just in KC, but the Midwest as whole. I hope they stay. It’s nice having a full sized jet to JFK. I’m pretty surprised Delta is giving mainline a go on the route this spring too. March 9-April 9 shows an A220. I like it, but I didn’t think I’d see it.

B6 needs to add a few more destinations to their Midwest stations if they want to grow their name

The fact that DL is still going strong in NYC/BOS along with UA upgrading EWR further leads me to believe its a marketing/brand recognition issue or perhaps poor flight timing. FWIW, B6 surpassed G4 and F9 enplanements during the summer. Maybe not fully loaded all the time, but they are gaining market share slowly.

That’s good to hear. I know their JFK flight actually is RON in MCI this week. Slots are probably the issue and lack of airplanes for timing. MCI is a station that would probably function well with an AM flight to JFK and an AM flight to MCI with a PM flight to JFK and a PM flight to MCI. Nothing mid day, you know?

I’m going to note that lack of brand recognition is definitely a factor after my flight from JFK last night. Thanks to WN’s meltdown my entire row ended up booking on B6 last night (flight was an A320 and packed so I’m willing to bet this flight accommodated a lot of stranded WN pax) and had no idea about B6. There’s like zero marketing for it in KC either.
