ON DL's Sept schedule it looks like all flights to ATL are A321s and the A220s to SLC have been upgraded to 738s.

Having flown both on Delta, I’m not sure that the 738 is an upgrade. The A220 is a really nice ride.

Good to see the higher capacity though.

I dunno, the one time I flew back from LGB to STL the connecting flight from SLC was an A220 and I was honestly not as impressed as I thought I would be. Kind of uncomfortable even up in first class.

I like that it has less middle seats. When traveling with a partner having a 2 side seat option is nice.

And as a frequent solo traveler who prefers aisle seats, it's one less person who could be bothering me to get out so they can use the john.

Apple/VivaAerobus routes (HUX, SJD,PVR) have been removed from the apple vacations schedule page. Not reading too much into it yet since they just went out of season but something to keep an eye on if they pop back up for next year or not. They were posted mid October last year for this year. Would love to see them picked up by a different airline.

Oh it is definitely nicer in that regard. Problem was, I made sure to book all legs of my trip on the 2 seat (or 1 seat) side of the aisle and it still felt a bit cramped lol. Maybe the A220 just has poor legroom on the bulkhead seat?

I'm not sure if DL has recently refurbished their 738s, but the last one I flew on a couple years ago was looking pretty raggedy. I'm pretty sure most of them are north of 20 years old.

Just noticed my STL-MSP flight was upgauged to an A319 from a CRJ9. Return is still an E175 though.

Wonder when they'll put mainline back on LGA.

On page 11 they show only one gate space (multi-use) for a "heavy" which is kind of surprising to me. I would think that they would have a few more multi-use gates that can accommodate in the case that we end up with some more flights that use them.
They also show, on the same page east and west concourse expansion potential. I assume that is in the event they need to grow more and not part of this plan?
Also looks like that D will be back in full swing here soon for the relocated airlines until they get the new terminal built.

I’d guess they will have more than one spot in the end. Pretty easy to move a jet bridge out of the way if needed to handle more than one at a time. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s something like 6 narrowbody gates that can go 2 for 1 to widebody as needed.

More surprised there are only 8 expansion gates. That wide body marker moves around between slides. I think its safe to assume multiple can be supported

Found this in the LH thread. Looks like the pilots are set to strike tomorrow. Hope this doesn't happen/last long. We are supposed to fly LH STL-FRA in a few weeks to go to Oktoberfest in Munich.

The 738’s are older. The 739’s are only about 10 years old.
Most 738’s have upgraded interiors, but a handful do not. DL in general does a great job of keeping the interiors upgrades. All of the old NW, 20-25yr old A320’s are upgraded.

And to the other comment about LGA and mainline, I don’t see it happening. LGA is a major regional hub for DL. The mainline is to other hubs and a few longer flight destinations. Even DCA is all Republic 175’s to/from LGA and AA flies it mainline.

I guess the "strike" was just a tease? Inbound from FRA ready to arrive on-time.

Serious question... now that LH has their first 787-9s coming to the fleet, is it likely that we will see one at Lambert? It is a comparable plane, maybe a bit smaller, right?. I don't know if it's less expensive to fly on the route or not. Any thoughts?

I asked someone how many seats it would have I think it was 40ish more than the A330 which surprised me.

The LH rep at the inaugural said that it's a long-term B789 city. They'll be deployed on larger routes initially. Really just expect the A333 for a while.

I know we've heard here that the route is performing very well (any hard data available??). I'm booked to FRA in J for December and it's nearly sold out already. Sound like perhaps the demand is there to fill more seats.

They can add and drop a route a dozen times and each time the press release will say brand new service as if it had never happened before.
It looks like NK is not bringing it back so F9 jumped on it before they change their mind.

There's a few articles out there stating that the 787s will have 26 J class seats, which extrapolates out to about 285ish total seats while the flavor of A333 that STL gets has 255, so that seems pretty accurate.

LH's 787s aren't particularly premium in terms of seating percentage compared to comparable airlines. They were originally intended to go to Hainan Airlines and thus has their configuration and LH will be introducing a new J class product with the arrival of the 779s, so the configuration they'll be delivered with isn't long for this world.

West coast is still rough though.
No OAK/SEA/PDX/SFO/SLC
SNA sat/sun only
SMF/SJC Sat only
LAX/SAN still 1x daily

1550 WN CUN
1557 F9 PUJ
1631 F9 CUN
1800 WN MBJ

MBJ goes to 2x a week for the first time I can remember also.

West coast is still rough though.
No OAK/SEA/PDX/SFO/SLC
SNA sat/sun only
SMF/SJC Sat only
LAX/SAN still 1x daily
LGB 6x weekly

Looks like STL still has SEA and picks up SFO in January.

Let's hope SFO sticks. Over and over again it gets pushed back every time UA has a schedule update.

Same. I am not super optimistic it sticks for a winter start but with WN not running any Bay area over winter maybe it will. I also have reason to believe UA is finally going to show STL some love in the near future, so we will see how it plays out.

Lufthansa load factors from STL for June/July were over 95%.

Hopefully we hear about it going to 5x soon.

I doubt UA will do that given that it's already operating full-fledged hubs at ORD and IAH, the former being a direct competitor to STL in terms of location.

Not sure what you are saying "I doubt UA will do that" to but no one is suggesting anything that would have much, if any, impact on ORD/IAH

International Loads for March

WN CUN 93%
AA CUN 88.5%
F9 CUN 79.5%
WN MBJ 79.5%
Apple/Viva HUX 78%
NK CUN 74.5%
F9 PUJ 68%
Apple/Viva SJD 54.5%

For March 13,623 people flew from STL to Cancun nonstop. I guess they love their CUN here.

A couple schedule updates from the weekend.

AA drops AUS to 1x daily in Jan. Outbound is 945 pm which seems like a horrible decision. They need to have the inbounds to AUS catch some connecting opportunities. Plus 945 is just a crappy time.

AC drops YYZ to 1x day for Nov-mid Jan. It will be on a CRJ900 though. AC made cuts across their network some cities lost service all together, BDL/MKE/MCI. So all in all not terrible.

1x to YYZ is more that enough in my opinion. Especially during that time of year.

Yup, YYZ is 3x a day to catch connections within Canada and to Europe, the ME and India. Take out leisure demand to Canada and Europe during that time of year and there is no need to run so many flights. May as well run it once on a bigger plane

I really like having at least 2 a day, but when other stations are losing all their flights and our 1 isn't on a crappy 50 seater, I am won't complain too much. Hopefully the back to 2x a day holds in mid Jan but I wouldn't be shocked to see it pushed to March
