Hey VCVSpotter, your posts are the reason I'm on here, so figured I should give you a shoutout in my first post! Thanks for all the info you provide.

I found a little information on the 737MAX8. F24 showed the registration so I was able to find that it's going to Shanghai Airlines eventually. https://boefamily.flights/registration/N5515X

Thanks!! And welcome to airliners! :)

Looks like we'll be getting some rare metal tomorrow....TWO AIR NAMIBIA A330s have filed into SBD:
Air Namibia A330-200 D-AAAS filed LDE-SBD 9:30AM - 12:40PM.
https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/d-aaas

Air Namibia A330-200 D-AAAQ filed LDE-SBD 10AM - 1:12PM.
https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/d-aaaq

Pretty interesting because there were several rumors claiming that these jets would be converted to freighters.....strange to send them to SBD for anything besides scrapping (although maybe unlikely since these frames are so young???). Just will have to wait and see...

They visit quite often with their A330MRTTs (once every couple months), think they usually are coordinating something with Edwards.

Temp storage pending maintenance. MRO shops are backlogged. This has occasionally happened with other B752, B738, A319 that have been put into temp storage until can be slotted in for maintenance.

Perhaps. Why IAB, though? ICT seems like it'd be more logical. What am I missing?

Hi Socal spotters, there's currently a BOE380 flying VCV-SKF. Some of us think that this should be the painted Xiamen MAX ( LN 8100), but if someone had a visual on it leaving it would be very much appreciated.

Minor correction: it looks like it ferried VCV-KEF. Quite a long time for a 738 at 8h 17min flight time. Are they able to fly that long with an empty cabin and "stock" tanks or were aux tanks added for the flight?

It's standard tanks. Most of the 738s were delivered Seattle-Dublin direct, so they can go quite far when empty. The -8's seem even better.

Southwest 737MAX8 N8701Q flew PHX-VCV as WN8512. Looks like the tower had them taxi to the paint hangars by mistake then routed them back to the 'new arrivals' area. Which means these aren't for paint....wonder if Boeing's got some kind of fix they need to do...?

Great to see a lot of MAX actions at VCV. Appreciate the report as always. 511 is definitely something worth looking out for after repaint (?).

I realize this is semi-off topic, but the ANA JA-709a and -710a are very special planes to me. Is it possible for me to visit them at SBD, close up? Thanks if you can help. Regards,

SBD moves aircraft around a bit; there are sometimes, but not always, ex-ANA jets parked near the fence outside Unical's hangar at the end of Harry Shepard Boulevard. However, a lot of the registrations have been removed, so identifying a specific frame may not always be possible.

Seconding what Newark727 said, SBD likes to move around their jets a lot compared to other boneyards (MHV), so you have a higher likelihood of seeing it up close; however, all identifying marks are often removed so it'll be difficult or impossible to tell the jets apart.

Thanks once again, VCVSpotter, for keeping us on top of some awesome gossip.

Why the multiple WN 7M8 flights between PHX and VCV, out of curiosity?

Any movement with the AC 77Ls at VCV? I think 2 have left VCV and 1 from MZJ. I saw C-FNND with the transponder on at VCV a couple of weeks ago. Although with the recent downgrades in service AC could have delayed the return of the remaining 3 77Ls.

No problem! :)
Honestly I'm not sure. I know they go to the Boeing or ComAv hangar but I don't know anything past that. They're definitely doing a reliable job though...all jets are in/out in the span of 4 days.

The last time I went to VCV (Jan 30), it seemed that they were prepping C-FNND to return to service (all protective coverings removed, window coverings removed, etc). The only 'noticeable' difference between C-FNND and one that would be in active service was a missing tail panel that allows access to the hydraulics. Also 77L C-FIUA was at the ComAv hangar area on Jan 30 as well. So I'd say they're definitely coming back, but they aren't being rushed back into service.
