Can't say I had much of an opinion or reaction about it either way except I'm sure Amazon (and EWR) will be fine.

Stupid, the same folks that cancelled Amazon's HQ2 deal for NYC, and Unionized distribution warehouse on Staten Island have struck again. What the heck do they accomplish by destroying jobs?

Idk much about this Newark deal, but the HQ2 deal was bad. Amazon did not need all those concessions to come here.

Amazon is already at JFK, perhaps they will continue to grow there, instead?

They’re already at EWR too, this was an expansion of their current operations.

Before last Spring it was operated by B717s. I am surprised they use crjs for JFK-MSP. If I ever need to get to MSP, ill use LGA.

I believe they were mixing in A319s and A320s too. Maybe the A220.

Air France, Ethihad and LOT have been chosen as the anchor tenants for the new JFK Terminal One. What does that mean exactly?

I figured AF would have moved to T4 with Delta. I suppose KLM will be here as well. How many flights does LOT even have to JFK?

Ummm we don't see prime air flights at EWR that I am aware of. No 5Y or 8C 767s or SY 737s either.

FX and 5X have decent sized operations (FX being the larger with a regional hub), Daily Amerijet to San Juan, Daily Northern Air Cargo from SLT and Westjet/21Air which now does both the daily west jet bermuda flight and seems to be also doing whatever 5Y or 8C did for DHL out of CVG. Can add in a random pop up of a 5Y or K4 744 as well.

AF owned T1, but ownership is changing, so I'm unclear if AF is giving up part of its stake with its changes.

Sure that isn't the 767-200 Cargojet/21air? It's all white fuselage with black tail. No writing on it.

Does this mean LH, JL & KE pulled out of the consortium? It would make sense for JL to move to T8 and KE to T4. But since AF is staying in T1, I’m assuming SkyTeam has no intention to colocate at JFK. That is really unfortunate, as it would have finally reduced some totally unnecessary inter-terminal passenger flows in one of the most chaotic airports in the nation.

Some updated renderings for JFK's new Terminal One on Ferrovial's website: https://www.ferrovial.com/en/business/p ... l-airport/

Definitely going to be a nice terminal, but not quite as impressive as what was proposed back in 2018. Can't wait to see whether that yellow cab in the baggage claim render actually makes it into the final build.

I wouldn't call JFK-TYO a vanity route for DL. Even moreso they cut it long before covid.

I probably misused the term - I just meant that they shouldn’t fly empty planes if the demand isn’t there. It just surprises me that DL can’t sustain flights to HND and also HKG from JFK. Two of the largest financial centers in the world.

One challenge that DL would be facing with a JFK-HND add is that there are no Japanese airlines in the SkyTeam alliance, whereas UA has stronger Japanese point-of-sale due to the UA-NH partnership and NH FF base in Japan to support UA EWR-NRT/HND nonstop service.

DL would also be facing challenges with a JFK-HKG add with CX being in the oneworld alliance, even though DL can offer connections onto KE ICN-HKG flights.

The problem being that's unusually short--even for a season operation. And it doesn't look like it's returning in the future.

Just as I suspected: Breeze was too ambitious in its HPN expansion. It isn't tapping into untapped demand, but non-existent demand. Other carriers have been here for years and none pursued those routes.

Breeze is a fad. EOS.

AA ADDS HPN SERVICE: https://thepointsguy.com/news/american- ... stchester/

YET ANOTHER WIN FOR THE AIRPORT. Let's see how long this lasts. Recall that AA tried the same route a few years ago, and it lasted less than a year.

HKG for now shouldn't really be on anyone's plans. Yes, quarantine has been cut to three days, but other restrictions in the city and with the mass exodus of talent even in the financial markets, I think it'll be a while before HKG is being considered.

Unrelated, with AA finally gone. Is there any notion that ISP is trying to lure UA to Chicago or DL to Boston or Atlanta? With drive times from middle Long Island approaching 1.5-2 hours to LGA or JFK, it would be nice to have a major serving there.

I disagree here with pretty much everything you said. HPN has the potential to be successful for all the reasons HVN has been successful - large and affluent local market, people not wanting to go to NYC (less of a factor here) and smaller size. It won't ever draw people up from the city, but the two counties the airport is in have a combined population of nearly two million.

Great. Unfortunately, none of this accounts for the relentless campaigns to prevent further expansion. Wishful thinking is fun, though!

Hi, I am wondering if anyone can help. I am arriving into EWR on an Aer Lingus pre cleared flight (so I assume terminal B). I am connecting to a United flight (assume terminal C). Is there an airside transfer or will I need to reclear security?

No update yet for the new Terminal A at EWR, still waiting for them to take down the airfield fences.

For those in the area, the Newark Airline show is this Saturday at the airport Holiday Inn.

Yes United has a shuttle, there should be signs almost immediately as soon as you exit the aircraft.

New renderings look nice. I wonder if they’re gonna add the connector to T4 tho because I don’t see it in these updated renderings.

ISP can likely support the return of WN ISP-MDW nonstop service with the connecting opportunities that would be there through MDW to some destinations west of the Mississippi River that don't currently have WN nonstop service out of BWI.

ISP also could possibly support WN nonstop service to DAL with
(a) WN operating fewer nonstop flights to DAL from LGA than it did prior to the COVID-19 pandemic,
(b) LGA being slot restricted,
(c) ISP being the only airport other than LGA in the NYC metro area that currently has WN service, and
(d) the connecting opportunities that would be available through DAL on WN to a few smaller Texas markets not served nonstop from BWI, MDW, or BNA.

One challenge that WN would face with an ISP-DAL add is that most of the passengers traveling to the NYC metro area from TX, NM, AZ, NV, or CA prefer to fly into LGA, JFK, or EWR instead of ISP. There are also plenty of nonstop flights to DFW from NYC with AA, DL, UA, B6, and NK all serving DFW nonstop from the NYC market.

Yeah, I think Frontier or Southwest can expand service but I was hoping for a major, DL to Atlanta and/or Boston; UA to O'Hare, or AA to O'Hare and/or DFW. I suppose it requires the businesses in Central Long Island to want to use the service. Otherwise, it'll be Breeze, Frontier, Southwest.

Unfortunately it did not work out that way. No sign so I asked and they said I had to reclear security. Annoying but not a big deal. Puts extra pressure on security. They seem to offer the connection in the other direction so not sure why they don't run a loop?

Man, we are looking good at getting some former EWR carriers back, first Air France and now hopefully KLM. Here’s hoping for EVA, Korean Air.

Some updated renderings of the new T1 at JFK (check in hall, exterior, holdroom, arrival hall, JFK park, customs)

This page just brings up a title card for M/W/LBE, SDVOB Information Session, September 13, 2022 with an aerial view of the terminal for me. Am I missing a link somewhere showing the updated renderings?

V/F

I was going to say the same thing.

The link has a Terminal One MWBE slideshow, which you can find downloaded from the page at the following link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1MNrw8O ... sp=sharing

Speaking of the new T1, I was at the airport the other day and had a look at progress. Garage demolition is well underway, and they were running the Airtrain on one track as they were demolishing the bridge that allowed access from the T1 station.

The station will close next week for a period of ~2 months. Wonder what work they have planned--perhaps they're encasing the tracks?

Anyone else catch all the drop-off departures renderings have the terminal listed as Terminal A? Are we going to see Terminal A, B, C & D instead of 1,4,5/6 & 8?

One can hope! The jumbled names really need to be cleaned up with this modernization. Even just 1, 2, 3, & 4

YET ANOTHER WIN FOR THE AIRPORT. Let's see how long this lasts. Recall that AA tried the same route a few years ago, and it lasted less than a year.

HPN is an interesting airport, but expect services there to get cut first in a big downturn (just like all of the other downturns of the past).

XO and Blade pull a lot of premium traffic out of New York. They both have big plans to expand the NYC-Florida semi-charter runs this winter.

Maybe that’s why they will go to letters bc people flying from a new Terminal 4 (T8) would get very confused.

I do see many construction bids for “One JFK” signage. Makes sense.

JFK could also revert back to custom-naming terminals. Perhaps not necessarily by airline "Eastern Terminal" or "IAB" but could be named by prominent NY figures.

Seems MSP and DTW are the only two airports still custom-naming terminals.

Speaking of T1, the current gate situation has became worse as more airlines have moved from T4 to T1. The gate wait times have increased in the evening with some aircraft waiting for over 1:30hrs. The other night TP, 2x AF, LH, NZ, and 2x N0 aircraft were all waiting for over an hour for their gates to open up.

Not sure if I saw this posted here, but Frontier is now operating out of the Marine Air Terminal at LGA.

They operate out of gate 1 which I believe is their dedicated gate.

While they have limited flights because of their slots, they could add a few off-peak flights to maximize their new gate space.

Newark Terminal B gate space

Thu Sep 29, 2022 4:17 am

Thinking about next summer (23) at EWR, what is the deal with gate space and which airlines will be utilizing what. In 2019 during the peak 6pm departure bank, B2 saw a BA 772, EI A330, and usually a random UA wide body. B3 saw an Austrian 763, FI 752, LH 748, EW A330, TAP A330, and SK had two A330s. Now fast forward to 2022 and we only saw B2 with a BA 772, and then UA wide bodies. EI downgraded to an A321. B3 saw the loss of Eurowings' A330, and TAP downgraded to an A321. While Austrian did up gauge to a 772 (which took either Taps or Eurowings slot), there is still one more wide body slot at B3, as well as one at B2. I guess my question is why are foreign airlines having a hard time getting gate space at Terminal B? There used to be way more international airlines there than there is now. Lastly, I think clarification on which gates can handle what at TB as it can be puzzling.
Gate B51 - up to 764?
Gate B52 - up to 753?
Gate B53 - up to 772/78X/A359? - NO 777W
Gate B54 - 747-8/777W
Gate B55 - 747-8/777W
Gate B56 - 764
Gate B57 - 763
Gate B60 - 763
Gate B61 - 763
Gate B62 - 747-8-777W
Gate B63 - 747-8-777W - 747-8 is a question due to wingtip clearance next to TC
Gate B65 - 747-400/777W
Gate B66 - 753
Gate B67- 753
Gate B67A - 772/78X/A359
Gate B68 - 777W - didn't think a 777W could park here but saw an AI 777W do it once

LH has chosen EWR for their first international 787 service.

With BA's move to T8 about to start anyone have an update on Alaska's plans? They have a decent lounge in T7 (I'm posting from there right now) and can understand wanting to hang on here until it's torn down, but it sure would be nice if they'd move in with OW in T8.

Anyone have an idea what jeblue plans on doing up at SWF? They haven't returned since the Pandemic, yet it still pops up all over their web site even though nothing is bookable even into the spring. Frontier has moved and Allegiant has increased service. Play is there, but the majors have all left.

I find it odd, given their commitment to NY as well as scoring points with the PANYNJ who owns SWF

Fun fact: The DTW sector of my SWF-DTW-BNA flight was oversold and they offered me a $400 voucher if I'd take a Shuttle Van to Pittsburgh (8 hours), put me up in a hotel and then fly me PIT-DTW-BNA at 6AM the next day. I passed.
