Now we only need Ethiopian to restart, and Air China( although this one is unlikely for some time)

Thanks! Too bad there aren’t more details how they plan to get from sub grade to at grade or elevated levels to run to the rental car or east side parking. Any chance you have insights?
I read the documents on the Solicitation webpage regarding Skyway replacement. It makes mention of demolition, construction, etc but leaves detailed requirements somewhat vague. It doesn’t make sense to tear down the elevated tracks as ideally those ought to be reusable?
drerx7 wrote:Wow, that would be nice. If they are going to expand that far they are going to have to I change the trains themselves.... they move really slow and are capacity limited. That is going to be a significant undertaking considering the distance from the terminal complex.
drerx7 wrote:Man...if it transitions to at grade or elevated from sub.... that drainage would have engineering working overtime to design.

WN will own 6 and 7th will be for whomever the city wants but WN will get the rent/usage fees on the gate to pay back the 250m$ plus city is paying 20m$ for the design. Six more gates with FIS would mean more southern int'l expansion IMO.

That’s my thought as well. Wish there is way to design a separate APM system that runs from the Parking, Rental Car facility, to the terminals separately.

Here are the Q4 2021 PDEW's out of HOU of the top contiguous U.S. destinations traveled to from HOU in Q4 2021 that don't currently have WN nonstop service out of HOU:
HOU-DTW - 62
HOU-ONT - 60 (WN planning on resuming HOU-ONT nonstop service on a Sunday-only basis starting on 9/11/2022)
HOU-BUR - 58 (WN planning on resuming HOU-BUR nonstop service on a Saturday-only basis starting on 6/11/2022)
HOU-LBB - 54 (WN planning on resuming HOU-LBB nonstop service on a Sunday-only basis starting on 9/11/2022)
HOU-MSP - 52
HOU-MKE - 49
HOU-RDU - 49 (WN planning on resuming HOU-RDU nonstop service on a Sunday-only basis starting on 9/11/2022)
HOU-PIT - 44
HOU-CVG - 38
HOU-BOS - 36
HOU-PHL - 36 (WN planning on resuming HOU-PHL on a Sunday-only basis starting on 9/11/2022)
HOU-SEA - 32
Which of the above routes (apart from the ones that WN is already planning on resuming on at least a less-than-daily basis) are likely to be re-added by WN out of HOU once WN has more staff, more planes, and more gates at HOU?

When has it not been?
Granted, I haven't flown non-CO/UA int'l out of IAH since pre-9/11, but I thought it remained the IAB for airlines not affiliated with UA?
IAHflyguy wrote:This may be a long shot, but I figure this is the place to ask. Anyone who's been through IAH Terminal D once or twice has probably walked the connector from Terminal C to D proper (with gates D1-D3). IAH was my home airport and I've used Terminal D too many times to count (I can even remember when it was the IAB!). My question is this: in that connector, before the long uphill ramp, there's a hallway with a prominent DO NOT ENTER overhead sign and stairs leading down. It can be seen at 2:46 in this walking tour video of Terminal D:

I was never brave enough to poke around there myself, but it bugs me to no end that I don't know what's there. Given that Terminal D is undergoing reconstruction and that such locations will soon be gone, does anyone know what this hallway is/where the stairs lead? Thanks!

I always thought it was the airside re-entry point after be cleareing customs/immigrations and reclearing TSA before Terminal E central processing facility was built..

Lower D was a hole, truth be told. When they built D, which was a forced design and hurried with little concern for architectural aesthetics, they just glommed it onto lower D and the older part of C.

“…forced…hurried…”. Two words that summarize IAH.

I don't think so. Terminal D opened in 1990. Gulf War didn't happen until 1991.

lx2iah wrote:When C opened after the TI/CO merger, there were two (maybe 3) INTL gates at C-44 & C-45. I know this because I flew B-Cal (BR246/BR245) on their DC-10-30 in 1986 and British Airways in 1989 on their DC-10-30 aircraft (after the BA/B-Cal merger). Both of these flights departed and arrived C-45 - You couldn’t see the plane at that time because the way the jet bridge was positioned away from the windows. C had the customs to the side of C-45 which was the end Terminal C at the time. They had not built out the connector that goes from C to Terminal E as it is nowadays.

It was probably the result of oil price crash of 1985-1986.
LAXdude1023 wrote:A quick update on IAH's schedules.
Looks like IAH-ONT is gone effective September. It shows back in December but I have my doubts. SMF/SJC-IAH are daily redeyes which makes me cringe.
We did have a scare with NZ. They had removed all flights in October, November and December for a few days, but they are back in the GDS for booking. That was probably a glitch.
Looking at the fall schedule for UA at IAH, there are quite a few capacity increases domestically but not much in the way of frequency increases. Lots of stations are going full mainline like CVG, IND, CLE, MSP, CLT, and ORF. IAH-YVR looks to be back year round and perfectly timed for South America connections. IAH-YYC is only being flown daily by UA but WS has it at 2x daily.
Some Florida routes have been decreased through September 20 but that is understandable due to hurricane season which affects not only them but us as well. PBI is back from that point as well.
Long haul wise, nothing much to report. IAH-NRT will be daily on UA and 4x weekly on NH. AF is sending the 789 on IAH-CDG and KL the 772 on IAH-AMS. IAH-TPE is back on September 2 and TK is 11x weekly in the fall with a 77W/789 mix.
Thats all Ive got for now.
