The cancelled flights are plain to see on the links below. And what has she done since Oct 28 2022?

It's odd those sites show cancelled flights. Quite possibly an error. I can tell you with 100% certainty that the aircraft was under the control of maintenance and was never made available to be scheduled for a revenue flight from 17 March 2020 until 28 October 2022.

1817 (finally) returns to service later today (11/02) on ATL-MCO-ATL

My definition of "return to service" differs from yours. Internally, when an aircraft is released from maintenance it is "returned to service" meaning it is available to the airline to be scheduled for a flight. It can also remain a ready spare. An aircraft that is "returned to service" doesn't necessarily fly that day. Ship 1817 was RTS on October 28 and became a ready spare at that time.

The last Annual Report showed 321neo purchase commitments at 27 for this year and 33 for next year. We'll see if that gets met.

13 have been delivered so far and two more are flying right now. But I cannot imagine getting to 27 by the end of the year. The same is true for basically all airlines taking deliveries due to supply chain issues. The A220 is particularly slow right now.

27 seems tough for sure, but ~20 could be possible. There are 2 flying, as you mentioned, and then another 4 that have been spotted in various states of production: 5012, 5014, 5015, and 5019.

The last I hear a couple weeks ago from an internal ‘unofficial’ source is 22 321N by the end of the year. Airbus is giving a big push to meet a delivery goal this year and it sounds like PW is finally catching up with engines.

They’re still hoping for ~30-33 next year.

That’s fair. I was not intending to refute your statement of 1817 returning to service on Oct 28. Still, even if I agree with your definition of “returning to service” (and I do), equating RTS with returning to a scheduled commercial flight is how much of us without access to internal data would likely define it as.

Anyone know what is going on with N624AG it was a low cycle PW powered frame picked up in 2012. Shows parked VCV.

It's the same as all the other parked 757s. They are awaiting engines and a letter check. Should start to see them ferry out in a few months time, and a majority should be available by the summer schedule.

Apologies if this is discussed up-thread but how is DL replacing their 767s? A338/9? or have they not decided yet?

A339s will probably be the ones for the job, with maybe 764ERs backfilling some routes and any that don't have the demand for that might just be cut and given for a JV airline to serve.

When and if Boeing develop an NMA, expect DL to order that, but there's zero timeframe on when this will happen. My best guess is that the 767-300ERs might stay to 2027-2028 at most.

Does anyone know why DL is bringing 752s to Dallas Love Field over the past few weeks? I saw N664DN landing there yesterday from OKC with a 88xx flight number?

I know this is not a revenue flight, but was wondering why these would be coming to Love...

Sports charters. 88xx are charters. Some with a live load, some are repositioning flights. DAL is closer than DFW for hockey/basketball teams.

It’s been parked since January 22. I didn’t realize they were taking that long to get HMV. They are going to need every aircraft back for summer 2023.

It’s been parked since January 22. I didn’t realize they were taking that long to get HMV. They are going to need every aircraft back for summer 2023.

Combination of factors that have been guiding the reactivation of parked / stored aircraft.

MRO capacity - they have been capacity constrained, both in-house and 3rd party vendors due to labor but also handling the volume of work catching-up on deferred work during the pandemic from 2020 with the mass parking and with the reactivation of stored aircraft. Now also with the checks and induction work on the acquired 739s.

Pilot staffing - they weren't staffed even during last summers peak schedule to be able to fully utilize the number of frames in service; let alone reactivating the ones in service

Rotables / spares - its not just airframe maintenance / checks, its also engine overhauls, and other rotatable parts and having enough to support the active fleet plus spares.

n515cr, you do great work. Are you able to include detail on the 717 seat mod and reactivation numbers in your status updates? Last month, one left storage for mod before eventual RTS and reliable sources on the forum indicate upwards of another 15 to follow over the next few quarters. It would be appreciated if these numbers can be included in your status updates, as I don’t believe the 717 reactivations are closely tracked anywhere else. Thank you.

With the ETOPS A321Ns entering service, en masse. Has there so far been any tinkering with the Delta 757 Transcon fleet? Eg, constrained to shorter haul segments.

The 75S fleet currently operates 0 ETOPS routes routinely. 32Q deliveries #51-#70 will be D1 and DPS configured and should replace the 75S around Q4 2023 - Q2 2024 pending Airbus' delivery performance. ~13 32Q's have been delivered with 12 in revenue service so far.

The 75S fleet will allegedly be converted to 75D's once they are replaced.

Also worth noting the D1/DPS 32Q frames will not be ETOPS configured.

With the exit door configuration on the 75S, they will be converted to a 75G. That is slated for 2024.

Where do the 75S’s fly these days? Do any of the routes to Hawaii have 75S’s regularly?

Thus far there has not been a significant change in operations on the lie-flat equipped 757-200 fleet, because as others have said they are still being used on runs like SAN, SFO, and SEA to JFK. But even with a dozen 321Ns in service, there has been a notable reduction in longer stage length 757 flying. SEA/SFO-BOS, SEA-OGG, and LAX-OGG are routes that all used to see 757 flying and don't any more. SEA-JFK is down to 1 757 frequency (on a lie-flat equipped plane) after years of having multiple 757 flights. And yes, short haul is the place they are going. ATL-JAX, RIC, IND, MSY, BNA, and of course the Florida cities are seeing intensification of 757 usage, and my guess is that list of cities will continue to grow.

I don't understand how DL determines fleet types but have to wonder if fuel prices may prompt more impetus to swap 757s onto more of the shorthaul routes. ATL-CMH, as one example, is currently mostly 739s but has seen 757s over the years (IIRC, as recently as 2018); I'm not sure what dynamic DL uses to determine which midsize cities get them and which don't, but you'd think there are more possibilities.

The 7ER (757/763) pilot base category in SEA is anticipated to close in 2023. The 321NEOs are taking over the longer-range 75D & 75H (Hawaii) flying. The 75S flying will be taken over by the sub-fleet of NEOs mentioned above.
Yes, the 757s will increasely be used on shorter flights out of ATL and Florida flying (DTW, MSP). Pulling more 757 flying into ATL helps upgauge 739 & A321s and frees them up to upgauge other routes elsewhere.

I’m curious about which crew bases are in SEA and BOS respectively. Anyone have any insights into that?

Just a small correction. SEA 320 opened in September in preparation of the Hawaii flying.

I think there is also massive talent drain. They offered generous incentives to senior employees to retire. Delta was talking some seriously grim forecasts. My buddy took a buyout only to return 8 months later with a new anniversary date. A lot of experienced employees left. Add everything else I see why.

Maybe both? Hurricane evac definitely crossed my mind. 3238 is still @ MLB (unless it wasn't in condition to fly out/wouldn't have been so by the time the airport closes).

Some IFC entry shakeup, most likely due to Hurricane Nicole.
3249 not showing entry as noted previously (now flying the 11/11 morning return to ATL)
3275 now still showing entry on 11/11
