The airport money put forth by the state got us Breeze, which is barely hanging on here. It should've all went to TATL. Breeze offers nothing.
Possibly, though I’d be inclined to disagree. CMH is growing nicely with that mix of business and leisure which BA seek for their new US routes. It will still be on their radar.
This time around CVG made the most sense due to its location at the centre of a huge multi-metro triangle catchment area, plus to profit from AA’s growth and thus grab the region’s FFs.
First though, I believe MCI will get the next BA service due to proximity to the World Cup, catchment area, growth, plus it’s clear they’ve had advanced talks with BA. Then Indy are perhaps best placed to have their turn, in my view.
CMH could then be next thereafter. You’ll find that BA and AA will analyse the new CVG flight’s traffic and see where much of it originates from. If many CMH residents use this service (plus connect on other, AA flights), then that makes a direct much more likely.
I did predict CMH service on BA as far back as 2015, in part due to its central location which enables the capturing of traffic from Cincinnati, Louisville, Cleveland and Indy too. After the launches of PIT on BA and EI to CLE though, CVG is the best option to capture traffic flows from north of 8m people within a 2hr drive!
