I’m sure how removing alcohol from aircraft would make any difference. Even before COVID, it was virtually impossible to get drunk to the point of stupidity on board.

The problem isn't alcohol on the airplane. It is Alcohol in the Gate area bars, and the drive in to the airport. How do you propose to regulate that?

Was on the employee shuttle a week or two back when Bar B Cutie opened and the owner told us BNA required them to sell alcohol even though the other store/stores they owned didn’t sell a drop of alcohol.

That cannot possibly be true. Many (most?) of the new concessions do not sell alcohol.

That’s exactly what she told me, take it for what it’s worth. She said that the other stores they own do not sell alcohol but they were required to sell it at the BNA location. Not sure if it was a condition for getting into the airport or not. Just passing on info I got from her.

I could see an airport saying this location is going to be for a restaurant with alcohol sales. So to be able to open you had to agree to sell it or they would have had different restaurant/bar go in there.

Wow… alcohol does have a more powerful effect on the body at higher altitudes. Feel free to research. In my 30 yrs as a airline pilot most incidents onboard were alcohol related. Multiple diverts and multiple taxi turn backs and delayed flights.
Luckily thru FA training they could moderate the amount of liquor poured. Took away free mini’s handouts helped. Airline lounge personnel finally got training on serving Inebriated customers. But people show up at the airport lit and go directly to bar.

Oh, there are plenty of people who are stupid drunk on airplanes. It’s just pretty hard to get stupid drunk on an airplane if you start out totally sober. The problem drinking typically starts way before boarding.
The fastest I’ve drunk on a plane was 3 or 4 drinks on an OKC-STL segment (it’s a much longer story) and I was nowhere near causing a problem despite the very irregularly quick drinking.

I am not expecting much new service wise at BNA in 2022, mainly due to construction. BNA will be down to just 40 gates come May/June and will stay that way until the new IAB and satellite opens in 2023. Let’s hope construction stays on track and doesn’t get delayed by supply chain issues.
What are your predictions for the year?

I could see F9 and NK adding flights and locations. WN will be limited until they start receiving MAX7’s but the ULCC’s have lots of aircraft on order. The demand will increase as omicron passes so someone will take advantage.

WN has a lot of aircraft time parked in places (e.g., ORD) where it seems unlikely that they are making money. So I’m not sure that WN’s fleet limitations preclude growth that makes economic sense at BNA or similar stations.

Again, the issue is gates. MNAA has stated they will limit new gate requests until the satellite and the IAB opens late next year. It’s gonna be tight until then.

They did say more midwest expansion is something they are looking at. I have not been following much of BNA, how certain is the "rumor"?
Are we talking HA planning on launching service or just that there have been rumblings? I've been hearing chatter of HA at lots of midwest airports but not a rumored flight to anywhere yet.

Allegedly HA has been showing interest to the MNAA after their success in AUS and MCO. I can confirm the MNAA CEO did go to Hawaii this past fall, but no idea if it was for business or leisure. Not sure if the flight could be supported with the current facilities. Maybe use the BA departure gate, or A6. Who knows.

Gating a 332 shouldn't be a huge deal. It can fit in at least one C gate and a couple of B gates. A6 is sub-optimal because of the small holdroom down at the end of A.
I'm still not convinced the demand is there for HNL, though.

Even more when AA ends the CLT route to HNL. That only leaves ATL with a nonstop route to HNL in the SE.

3-4 drinks can effect people differently, some sleep, some mumble to themselves, some talk and annoy seat mate, some get belligerent, some get feisty.
How about OKC-MIA maybe 3-4 more drinks, what type personality would the flight crew have to deal with?

Some stuff is still running, but not sure why. Airport is trying to keep 2L open.
2nd shift won't be making it in today....

The airport has shut down the employee shuttles, forcing employees to pay to park and charging said employees instead of re-activating the SIDA badge readers at the garage and allowing employees to park for free.

Ferrari Dealership actually.
Runway765 wrote:VS is launching AUS. Assuming they stay afloat and expand, I could see them at BNA at some point in the future, but probably not until the latter half of this decade at the soonest.
Two more years and BNA will finally have a decent IAB facility that can better attract widebody/international flights.

I thought there were plans to upgauge it to a 787-10 in the summer.
