This will be the first time jets will be used by AC into BDL as well as the first time first class is offered. A bit surprised they didn't start with the CRJ200 like was previously planned before COVID but I believe the 200's will be retired soon IIRC.

Nice to see them back at BDL….as they have served the Toronto route from Hartford for years. The Dash flights were always fun rides…nice view of Niagara Falls. But one can’t complain about a two class CRJ900. No scheduled turboprops out of BDL at all anymore.

So I couldn't leave them out, here's the Breeze numbers for PVD

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... ue&sd=true

again, source data is T-100, i've just adapted it for use.

CHS is also the best performer, PIT started well, but seems to have gone into reverse and ORF is solidly in the middle.

Looks like Bradley is looking to secure air service to Jamaica that has been a much-discussed topic for well over a decade. As stated in the article there is a sizeable Jamaican population in the Greater Hartford area. Might be an opportunity for B6 in the future.

More than 2 decades... I remember when they were in talks with Air Jamaica in the late 90's/early 2000's. I would think a Sat only B6 flight would be a safe way to test it out and grow from there.

Correct, Air Jamaica announced plans to begin service to BDL in 97 or 98, I believe signage was even added at the airport but I could be wrong.

Cranky Flier (CF) article about Breeze & BDL. There is some data for 2019 PDEW in Unserved Domestic Markets Over 2,000 miles. BDL-PHX and BDL-SAN were the two that stood out as I think they may two of the eight new nonstop destinations from BDL Breeze were alluding to. Unrelated to the CFarticle but there was a news story this week that mentioned Breeze stating BDL - SRQ but the story was taken down.

PVD gets LAX JAX SAV CMH and RIC all 2x

2x weekly is too low for LAX though but that a nice shattering of the western "glass ceiling" for PVD!

JAX is a breeze through to MSY, so I think of all the flights that one should be the best performer

Depending on how much leakage up North to BOS is captured by the LAX flights, Agreed over time 2 X week PVD LAX won't be enough, but 2 X could be sustained in the off season.

I assume this is the first PVD-California flight ever announced?

MDW makes a lot of sense and RDU may work but I don't see how BWI can work with multiple trains a day between New Haven and Baltimore/Washington. If your final destination is DC or Northern VA, BWI is not a great choice.

Yes. Hoping it’ll be an immediate success and serve as a proving ground for increased west coast service. And kudos to Breeze to giving it a shot.

It is still faster than the train. The Acela will take about 4:45 from NHV to WAS; you will be able to get from HVN to Union Station in just over 3 hours, accounting for arriving at HVN an hour before your departure. The further your destination is from Union Station, the bigger the advantage of flying will be.

But yeah, the schedule isn't good for day trips (not that Amtrak is great either -- the last northbound train that goes past NYC leaves at 3:52pm).

You make some valid points, for some reason I thought Amtrak was around 4 hours but Acela is just under 5 like you said. Still not sure if BWI is a great choice unless Avelo plans on making BWI a base and having connection possibilities but I highly doubt that with Southwest and a large Spirit presence. Flying HVN-BWI and driving to DC door to door is likely around a 3 to 3.5 hour trip depending on where your origin and destination is. Also it seems like Amtrak has cut back on its schedule, there used to be more options leaving Washington to NYC and points north past 4:00pm. But all of your points are well taken, time will tell if HVN-BWI will work out.

I guess DCA is out of slots. That would have been my first choice, but BWI is the next best airport. 5 weekly flights should work.

In the very back depths of my mind (which is a scary place to be), and apologies if this was commented above, but in the last 5 years, wasn't AA trying to do PVD-LAX and it didn't last long?

Seconded. Awesome to see that.

No, AA never tried that, though I wish they had.

B6 is now flying BDL-SJU 3x daily, I assume this is a response to F9 entering the market 3x weekly as I don't recall B6 ever flying 3x daily.

Looks to only be a seasonal adjustment, B6 goes back to 2x daily April 18th.

You know what's shockingly glaring about all of these additions at PVD and BDL? The utter incapability of MHT to add airlines and routes.
Yeah I know Spirit recently started 4 routes there but boy that now appears so insignificant.

Never stranded like that but whoever works UA at BDL definitely has some kind of worker shortage going on right now. I have flown in 2-3 times over the past couple months past 11pm and have had to wait for ground crew to get us into the gate each time waiting at least 15-20 minutes. I am pretty sure UA subcontract their ground staff who may also work other airlines at BDL.

Years back there was a diverted international flight from EWR to BDL and there was no one in customs and immigration to process the passengers and they sat for quite a few hours.

Diversions from BOS. Don't know why.

Edit/Added: can the E175s, or specifically the Republic E175s, not handle the fog at BOS this morning?

[Tried to start a new thread on this but I am a new user so maybe did not figure out how (or still in moderation).] I believe the E175s may specifically be affected due to ongoing 5G interference issues and are not able to land in poor visibility. Other aircraft including other RJs were able to land this morning without incident. Some info on E175 issues: https://www.aviacionline.com/2022/01/la ... n-the-u-s/

It wasn't just ERJ's or CRJ's. Just about everyone had issues.

Milestones at HVN….Avelo operated its 1000th flight since starting service in November, and has surpassed 100,000 passengers. Service between HVN and PBI yesterday saw its 100th flight since starting service in December…and since that time has seen 20,000 passengers! It will be interesting to see how many passengers will have flown out of HVN after a full year….I can believe the airport may have one of, if not the largest increase in passengers in the country.

This is wonderful news! I feel like this is the first A or B metal from American in quite some time, if ever.

With seven new cities coming on line in May, this will be a banner year for HVN. The early 90's set a record for HVN with 130,000+ passengers when UA served the airport. That figure will easily be surpassed this year. Still hoping for a legacy to come in to connect with the rest of the country such as DL to ATL or for AA to return with flights to CLT, not PHL.

Although the BDL people brush this aside as irrelevant, I don't know how this rush of new service cannot be at least nibbling at the Southern end of the BDL territory though HVN largely draws from other airports in the region.

I hope they're able to operate the North security checkpoint this summer! Last trip out of BTV only the South security checkpoint was open and they were definitely struggling to keep up with the volume. The supervisor also indicated they were training a lot of new agents. Mainline is going overwhelm them if they don't get the other checkpoint opened up.

What can CLT do better than PHL can't? PHL is just a North-South hub and a bit of TATL hub like CLT.

CLT has many more flights to connect to in the south. Look at the number and types of aircraft that go from the northeast to both PHL and CLT. More mainline to CLT because of its greater number of connecting flights.

Maybe once construction is done they might add it back. I don't see how HVN would have a mainline while MHT, HPN and PVD has regional flights.

I'm not sure if the mayor's opposition necessarily translates into the terminal plans being on hold. There are many other stakeholders involved and it would not make sense for a local mayor to have a universal veto over the project.
