Oh wow. You're right. Never realized there were that many Caribbean arrivals that late in the day: CUN, PUJ, PLS, AUA.

Yes, there are a few. AUA however wouldn't be one of them, as they have CBP pre-clearance, so no need to go to E, unless B6 needed them too.

My guess would be staffing. Usually the same ramp crew would handle LH/LX and the LH staff in Boston was usually only a few on duty. No point bringing in a second aircraft if you’re not going to have anyone to offload it

This isn’t specific to LH/LX for what it’s worth. Usually a ramp team will be assigned a line throughout the day that sees them following their own flights when possible so they don’t have to reposition back and forth from gate to gate all day.

Seems that BA212 — formerly "Speedbird 45 Bravo heavy" — is now "Speedbird 2 Charlie Mike heavy." Appears to have taken effect Sunday.

Woah thanks for sharing. Fantastic picture. I'm so glad we have the 4 engines returning to BOS.... even if it won't be forever. I saw the unmistakable silhouette of the LH 747 in the sky coming in yesterday over Salem. It's a sight we used to be all to used to around BOS between BA and LH. But it was looking rocky during covid. What a difference a year makes. Now we have the 747 back, the A346, and soon the A380.

We knew Delta was bringing their A321neo's with the refreshed fancy domestic first cabin to BOS...but now we know what routes to expect them on.

Denver (DEN) — starting Aug. 20.
San Diego (SAN) — starting Aug. 20.
San Francisco (SFO) — starting May 20.
Seattle (SEA) — starting Aug. 11.

Sure its not MINT or Delta One with lie flats, but this in between is still a competitive step up from traditional domestic first. The DEN and SFO move is also spitting in the eye of UA somewhat.

B6 finally starting service to London this summer. Flights to LGW begin 7/19 and flights to LHR begin 8/22. Kind of surprised they are flying to both airports - guess it would have to do with slot availability?

if flying MINT, can one use the AA lounge in BOS (once the connector is finished)?

I would imagine not (unless you had booked the ticket as J through AA) but also why would you? The walk between Terminal C and the Admirals Club through the secure area would be 20 minutes each way.

Edit: Answer is yes, if booked under the AA flight number. No if booked as a B6 flight number.

I'd rather sit in a club than the rocking chairs in the terminal!

JetBlue doesn't offer lounge access with their tickets, so the point is moot, but if you were to use a club, I would think it would be much closer to use one of the ones in E than in B.

I think the lack of a lounge is, in the long run, going to hurt them.

I always suspected this was going to be their strategy. Will not be surprised to see them add STN too some time in the future. Smaller airplanes allows them to fragment the route to better serve separate markets. All 3 have access to London plus, LHR->West, LGW->South, STN->North.

I just noticed TP is doing 11 weekly A321neoLR BOS-LIS with a later 10:30PM departure x147.

I checked both 21 and 22 threads and it was never mentioned. Did they announce this?

I didn't see an announcement but I noticed that EWR has also gone from 1x daily A339 to 2x daily A321.
It's an interesting move from their 2 largest U.S. markets. At 2x daily A321 they lose only 2 J seats but they trade 12 Y+ for 58 Y seats. This seems smart at a time when there's still tepid business travel demand but we're expecting heavy leisure demand. I just wish the 2nd frequency was a morning departure.

It was mentioned in this thread about a month ago and was quietly announced last November

Looks like BOS-ATL will get a daily A339 turn this summer, probably for TLV repositioning
Daily 763 for DUB reposition
Daily A321neo (new)
A bunch of daily 757s (woohoo!), a few A321-200s

Bummed to see GRU isn't coming back this year. LA's 767s were the perfect bird for it, the 789 might have been overkill with low business demand? Maybe DL could take over the route?

Random day in July:

BOS-ATL
DL504
6:30pm - 9:27pm

ATL-BOS
DL572
1:40pm - 4:18pm

I don't think it operates every day of the week; probably is sent up here to coincide with TLV flights

TLV leaves at 4:10pm from BOS, so I think it rotates to AMS. I looked on delta.com on July 7th at sample booking. It works on the inbound from TLV. Maybe the inbound ATL overnights in BOS to work next day to TLV.

I don't know whether this has been mentioned in here but Turkish Airlines will also increase IST BOS for the peak summer demand. Between May 17 and September 15, TK will operate 10 weekly flights:

TK101 IST BOS 0740-1120 Tue/Thu/Sat
TK102 BOS IST 1250-0520+1 Tue/Thu/Sat

TK081 IST BOS 1500-1840 daily
TK082 BOS IST 2330-1600+1 daily

All flights with A333.

I'm surprised about more 757 flying. DL doesn't operate 757's across the pond and the domestic ones I read are being replaced by A321NEO's.

The only source I have is in Portuguese, but says not coming back as planned and will route pax via JFK on Delta.

Is BOG service back on or did BOS lose all South America service at the moment?

Somewhere along the line their plan to use the 789 for the ‘daytime’ run went kaput. Yesterday as I was exiting the great CHS air show, I was stopped at a traffic light and right next to my car was a partially painted Turkish 789. “Ahhh…now I know why.” :rotfl:

Didn't see this mentioned before but while booking my flights for this Summer I noticed that the second FRA frequency from LH is coming back next month, first at 4x weekly and then 5x weekly. Operated by an A343.
IIRC didn't LH drop their second FRA frequency even before the Pandemic started?

Looks like it’s going to be quite a summer season at Logan. Place will be bursting at the seams.

Oh I agree, but the percentage increase to Europe is an outlier even compared to the other destinations. There are good reasons, including that the other destinations may not have dropped off as much compared to Europe, but I still think Terminal E is going to be busy this summer

April will be the telling month on growth. Jan to March comparatives of 21 were still in lockdown mode for the most part. April released the shackles and so we should really see how things have ticked up year over year, but it’s promising

I think a lot of people are still on the fence because of Biden's testing requirement. I can still find sub-$500 fares to Europe in the Summer. This close to the start of Summer that is not a good thing. If that rule is lifted you will see a rush to buy tickets.

I'm sure you've all seen this, but the A380 has returned (properly) under BA colors :D

Has anyone heard how DL is doing operating its int'l departures out of E? Terminal A satellite must be relatively quiet in the evenings now.

Hi BOS thread,

Been following this for a long time and decided "you know what? it's time to get more involved". I'm just a casual aviation fan really, and I live in Eastie with a great view of Terminal E and all the nice Int. birds. BA380 has been looking great!

@mikegigs I'm flying Delta to AMS in June...will report back my experience!

I’ve heard from former colleagues who are still working at E, and if I posted their impressions of how it’s going,l verbatim, I’d likely be banned for language.

Interestingly from what I’ve heard, Delta is actually the one struggling. Makes sense, everyone else over there is accustomed to shared space and dealing with each other. Delta is used to being the big fish in the little pond…not so at terminal E

Care to elaborate without the expletives that may have been used? Struggling in what way? What are the issues at terminal E aside from lack of a dedicated Delta lounge?

Noticed something interesting a few days ago while taxiing into terminal A. There was a line of coach buses with 2 police cars guarding them parked near one of the A gates. This is the second time I've seen this happen. I'm assuming Delta sent one of the flights from the Caribbean into A and the buses were there to take the pax over to E to get through customs but I'm not entirely sure if that was the case (forgot to look up where the airplane came in from). Anyone able to confirm this?

Possibly could have been hockey or basketball charters??

Almost definitely a charter. An inter-terminal bus wouldn’t have an MSP escort. Means it’s an outside company being escorted.

Most likely guess would be either Milwaukee or Carolina Hurricanes. Not sure who uses Delta, but it was always a fairly common sight

The Prime Minister of Vietnam was visiting Boston this past week. Made a point to stop by (he may have even stayed there) the Omni Parker House where Ho Chi Minh worked for a couple of years.
