I believe you mean "Proving Flights".
What are these proving flights for? The aircraft itself or for the airline to prove itself?
In this case, the airline to prove it can operate this type of aircraft. It already "proved itself" with the 767s.
121.163(b)
Proving tests for kinds of operations. Unless otherwise authorized by the Administrator, for each type of airplane, a certificate holder must conduct at least 50 hours of proving tests acceptable to the Administrator for each kind of operation it intends to conduct, including a representative number of flights into en route airports.

N7827KW back from HKG after what we think was MX.
The B767-300 fleet looks to be steady.
Are things looking up at Eastern?

Hope it wasn’t anything severe. It was carrying the UVA football team after attending the funeral of their teammate in Miami who was fatally killed a few weeks back. Patriots had leant the aircraft to UVA for funeral transportation for the team

Tailstrike is the word out there.

Wow. Its a long time that I read such bad comments about an airline which barely can be called one. Tower Air in its last year comes to my mind, or a personal experience with ATA/American Trans Air in the days they operated rotten ex-DL Tristars.

a couple of weeks ago I think JFK-Guayaquil or Quito was also bookable once a month as well, but I don't see it now. They also didn't make mention of it like they do on their homepage for the Miami -Santo Domingo route.

The airline has adapted to an ever-changing market allowing it to survive and thrive.

I don't see this being viable long term as:
From the U.S. P.O.S:
- AA (MIA based, but also well entrenched into the SDQ P.O.S),
...and Frontier doing well, on the same route (capturing any LCC traffic on the U.S. POS, and also serving SDQ-SJU/TPA/MCO) thus a valid option for any Floridian traveller/help with IRROPS.
...as well as Spirit (SDQ-MIA and SDQ-FLL)
...as well as JetBlue (SDQ-FLL, and does quite well here).
...and I'll add that for the South Floridian based traveller, AA (and/or) B6 helps with trips to key corridors (and that's past the NEA), and crucially with earning FF points which further entrenches their customers and their positions.
From the SDQ P.O.S:
- SDQ also hosts RedAir (L5)
...and Sky High (DO)
...and the missing ingredient is to see how Arajet will expand (into MIA, FLL, MCO, TPA and/or potentially PBI) at lower costs (than American competitors) and certainly would enter at better frequencies.
While I see what Eastern is hoping for (and perhaps there is a corporate/cargo contract) - I don't see how they can execute here, where they have retreated from other markets in which they would have held greater marketshare. Even a rock-bottom prices, what effect will once-a-month serve? Best of luck!

How many years now have they followed the same modus operandi of announcing routes and never starting them? And the ones they start make almost no commercial sense and end up disappearing with no explanation soon after. And let's not get into the operational disaster, bordering illegality, that they are. So, what gives? Has no regulator. anywhere, got wind of this hot mess of an airline and decided to see what is under the covers? Very strange....
stewartg wrote:Lets say you are a single or couple planning a vacation in the DR. Having prepaid for the hotel resort, and having requested PTO at work, now its all up to an unreliable airline. And you have to commit your plans to their return flight. What about a family going down? you are also depending on getting back to work on time. So, the question is: who is even taking the risk to book and pay for a flight?
This is not like Apple vacations where flight and hotel were all part of same package.
