Everyone always thinks it’s a 1 for 1 replacement. Yes a -10 is probably too big for a 767 route. You up the gauge to a -10 on a 777ER or -9 route then put that on a 767 route and the 767 goes away.

Most routes that a 767 flies today can be better flown with a -9 due to the fuel and MX savings.

Except the 77E's will be covered by this order if I understand the Bloomberg article excerpts correctly. The first 77E will turn 30 in 2026.

Of course it will but there will be ERs flying until 2030. They don’t just all go away in one day.

By the same token, I would imagine the youngest 763's (98-03) will be around until the late part of this decade.

763 Maint:
N641UA en route XMN 2733/3Dec.
Could be maint, but since last 789 is leaving XMN today, it could be start of 763 30J mod program to add PP seats.

Since it sounds like all of the 763's may be gone in 3-5 years, is UA still going ahead with this?

Could Airbus entice United with the A330-900neos for the 772 replacements?

Latam, ANA and Japan Air have significant 767-300 fleets 2005-2014 delivery. Latam is in bancruptcy and ANA is retiring all 767’s they can outbid cargo operators because they don’t have to factor in cargo conversion costs. UA can easily replenish the fleet with low time airframes and let future development in the MOM play out. They did go to Boeing and ask for new build 767. They were denied I have a feeling Airbus smells blood and can announce in the coming years a true MOM for EIS 2032.

LATAM is not in bankruptcy. https://aviationweek.com/air-transport/ ... chapter-11

Ok they exited a few weeks ago.sorry I haven’t kept up on the latest LATAM financials. I’ve been out there on the ramp battling the weather and the holiday rush. They still are in financial trouble. They are parking aircraft.

Is there a posting in this thread the status of the 757 both UA/CO fleet. Back during the pandemic some UA legacy 757’s were parked and never returned. They have 20k cycles in the clock seems rather early for retirement.

All legacy UAL 752s have been permanently parked. CAL 752s (40 frames) and 753s (21 frames), all with Rolls Royce motors, comprise the active 757 fleet.

LATAM is acquiring aircraft. Either way, I corrected a false statement, not rudely whatsoever, and your response is to be rude and defensive? That’s on you.

Do any UA experts here know why United ran a 764 between LHR and KMCO UAL 2505. Maintenaance reposition? There were no sporting events that would justify it?

Always wondered why UA parked the legacy UAL 757s and kept just the RR 757s? Was there ever an airline that was able to operate both RR and PW 757s for a long period of time and be profitable?

Some of them were approaching 30 years old, and from some buddies the mx required wasn't worth the effort. UA also probably thought they could refresh the fleet and save mx and fuel costs with the 73Max.

One Polaris sounds like pilot rest. LHR-MCO would require three crew.

Of the 99 units, only 10 were under 29 years old at this time and a small fleet didn't make sense. All, except N591UA, which was lost in 9/11, were sold, many to FedEx and about 6 going to Northern Pacific soon. Many of the 1990-1993 units were also sold and flying for FedEx, so UA got plenty of life out of the 752s and was able to sell most when retired.

Thx, Was curious what was happening with N677UA. Did not know the contracted painters (IAC) had a place in ROW, but it would make total sense if they did. AMA, FTW, VCV, maybe ROW?

Found this a/c painter in ROW.... https://www.deanbaldwinpainting.com/commercial Need to verify if UAL a/c are there, which could mean we are increasing the new livery throughput. Lots of a/c need a new paint job...all of the 787-8s, many of the -9s, 772s, and the remaining 76 fleet. The 76s look really good in new paint.

The original 764 out dates were based on a standard 45 days, but an update shows at least the first couple are taking longer.

One very minor thing, but I noticed that N430UA and N431UA appear on the Mainline Fleet Exit spreadsheet. They're listed as being retired as of 2019. However, it looks like at least 430 is still flying for UA?

Most likely 70 Seats. In order to get 76 seats UA would need to order small narrow body per the pilot agreement

Shame the younger Polaris 763's only have about 2-4 years left though...

Regarding the A350 delivery....what is really to happen with it? I guess anything is possible, but it seems more likely that the A350 order will be cancelled (it has been reported that the cost to do so won't be prohibitive) or more likely, converted into a narrow body order for more A321 types, and potentially more to replace the A319/A320 fleet, which UA will need to do at some point. The anticipated 787 order to be announced seems like it will be a solution for the aging 763/772 fleets for the most part.

Yes, this has been discussed previously here but a massive 787 order does, like it or not, put the A350 order back in play for repurposing or cancellation.

I thought the big MAX/NEO order was going to be used to start replacing the oldest A320's (turning 30 next year)?

I imagine we’ll find out about the A350s Tuesday.
