Russian leisure airline Azur Air is operating a VKO-PUJ flight today (repatriation flight, surely) with a 767-306ER RA-73034. A quick check seems to indicate that it was purchased by Azur Air from the lessor AerCap back in 2020 and added to the RA- registry, No risk of repossession for this one, it seems.

JAL cite Cold War era experience to resume European flights using polar route through Alaska and Iceland to London, while ANA cited concern over possible lack of non-Russian ETOPS diversion alternative airport for twin-engine jet as for the reason why they fly over Central Asia instead of polar route when they first resumed their service. But both airlines say future services could see further adjustment, and with the factor of wind taken into account, advantage of polar route versus Central Asia route are different on westbound vs eastbound.

UK Ministers are making it a criminal offence for planes owned or chartered by Russians to enter UK airspace.

Russian-owned craft are already banned from flying to the UK, but the new move is aimed at targeting private jets registered in a third country being chartered by wealthy Russians.

Citing "operational reasons" Air Astana of Kazakhstan has suspended all flights to secondary cities in Russia. Only flights to Moscow from Almaty and Nur-Sultan are operating.

Third airline from countries that have not imposed sanctions on Russia that suspend operations to Russia this week, Azerbaijan Airlines and Korean Air are the other two. In the case of KAL, they point to the inability to source jet fuel at Moscow SVO.

Two more airlines have suspended Russian flights, according to CNN.
Kazakhstan-based Air Astana and Pegasus Airlines, based in Turkey, have suspended “all flights to and from Russia,” according to the news outlet.
“Air Astana sincerely regrets to advise that due [to] the withdrawal of insurance coverage for commercial flights to, from and over the Russian Federation, all flights to the Russian Federation are suspended with immediate effect,” Air Astana tweeted Thursday.

The AP is reporting that Air Serbia will be reducing the number of its flights to Moscow to one daily, at some point in the future. Lots to unpack here, including Serbia's alliance with Moscow and the EU's insistence that Serbia, as an aspiring EU member, follow it in matters of foreign policy:

13 March 2022:

Nippon Cargo Airlines relaunched its Japan to Europe flights today, now routing its services over Anchorage:

- 13 Mar 2022 KZ4 NRT 17.55 - 08.00 ANC 09.25 - 03.20 AMS B748 JA18KZ

NCA halted all cargo flights from Japan to Europe when airspace closures occured.
Anchorage is a regular NCA crew stop for Japan-USA services, so opening ANC-AMS was a relatively simple step for the Japanese airline.

As per multiple sources, the EASA (European Union Aviation Safety Agency) as withdraw the airworthiness certificate of the SSJ and Tupolev Tu-204. On what basis are they doing that? Are this aircarfts not safe to fly to the EU from one day to the other or is it just more sanction on the Russian Aircraft industry?

On the "lighter" side, we might see a boost in Russian domestic aircarft such as the Tu-204, the Il-96, Il-114 and Russian SSJ while the MC-21 and CR-929 are still in developoemnent.
