Check in area height is actually pretty decent. The area near the windows are pretty high it gets low near the bag drop.
There was no trade. Delta's original plans did not have a club in the head house. Those plans also did not have double-height ceilings. This is what Delta wanted all along.

Their plan has always included a club. If it didn’t the building would not be the same height. Like that literally doesn’t make sense. From day one a new club was coming. That was one of the major reasons to do a joint head house. I’ve literally been there in all parts of construction.
I saw it when it had no walls, I saw it when the interior was empty and when it was completed (well before ribbon cutting). The ceiling is a decent height in check in. Baggage claim and the TSA check point it goes lower. It was designed that way to accommodate the beautiful new club.
