The door probably slammed shut with the lock switch down and they got locked out. I’m guessing the capt was actually making a second attempt to get in because he couldn’t squat low enough to get in feet first.

Even with the door locked, I can think of two safer/easier ways to gain access that I won’t post for security issues. This is stupidity.

But can the Captain's window be opened from outside. Somebody said the First Officer's window could be, no mention of the Captain's window. Additionally, you'd have to make sure the jetway didn't hit the pitot tubes.
