My understanding is that it starts on the day of the very first test flight.
Since the aircraft is an ntu plane (originally ordered by Hainan, then was supposed to go to Vistara), makes sense why it's 2 years old (closer to 3 actually).

I'm really hoping the latter, as it could be the key for getting Lufty-proper (back) on routes like PHX, MSY, etc.

Wait, I might've missed it, but when did LH reveal the configuration on the 789s??

Whatever the Hainan airline 787-9 config is. That’s the config of LH. I think LH is just changing the seat covers to blue to match their branding

I believe they will be equipped with the latest cabin that was announced just before the pandemic really got going. Not sure of the exact seat count since this now includes PE

I thought the Hainan ones were coming after the first few company-ordered ones, which were supposed to now debut the new "777X" config??

So it’s quite a drop in premium seats from the a333. The a333 sits about 42 business seats but obviously comes in that horrendous 2-2-2 config

OK, we now have an improved business product while at the same time the economy class product is on the way to the bottom with that horrendous 3-3-3 configuration![]()

Total seats is 294 seats
Which is about 26 business seats, 21 PE and the rest economy

Big drop compared to the A333 but pretty close to LH's A343s (30 / 28 / 221).

Which makes sense. 787 has plenty of range to replace the A343s and that fleet is older than the A333 fleet (nevermind the whole 4 vs 2 engines) so would be phased out first anyways.
Ultimately whatever directly replaces the A333 in terms of seat counts has to be physically larger (787-10 anyone?) unless LH is willing to compromise on J seats/ direct aisle access for all in the future.
