Airlines At MCO

Tue Apr 23, 2002 11:59 pm

I was looking through the official Orlando Airport website and saw some of the airlines that served it, I was surprised on a few.

Aerolineas Argentinas- There are no pics on a.net that have this airline at Orlando. What do or did they fly to MCO? A340? 742?

ANA- again no pics, I assume a 744, but do they fly here or is it some kind of Star code share?

EL AL- I saw ONE pic of an El Al 742 at Orlando in 1999, do they still fly there or do they use North American?

Saudi Arabian- Here was an airline that surprised me- There are actually a few pics of Saudi aircraft at Orlando. I see an L1011 and a 744 in pics. Are they still regular there?

What about Iberia? Do they fly a 742 or A340 or is it just a connecting A319 from MIA?

Icelandair?

LTU and Martinair- Do they still fly into MCO or did they switch to Sanford?

Martinair has scheduled (weekly, I believe) service to Orlando on a 767. Saudi Arabian used to frequent MCO often, however I have not seen any presence from them for quite some time. I believe the ANA and JAL are codeshares into MCO, although ANA did have their own check-in counter for many years, but since then it has been given to another airline. Icelandair does have scheduled service here, usuaully on a 757. LTU has not been to MCO in what seems like ages, although at one time (early-mid 1990's) they did have scheduled service, usually on L1011's. Hope this helps...

It used to be a continuation of the MIA flight I believe. B747 at that time.

ANA- again no pics, I assume a 744, but do they fly here or is it some kind of Star code share?

Never saw ANA at MCO, probably a United codeshare/Star Alliance but I haven't been there in a while so you never know.

EL AL- I saw ONE pic of an El Al 742 at Orlando in 1999, do they still fly there or do they use North American?

I believe they were using the 747 at one time and I'm sure North American.

Saudi Arabian- Here was an airline that surprised me- There are actually a few pics of Saudi aircraft at Orlando. I see an L1011 and a 744 in pics. Are they still regular there?

I've seen the 744 and 747SP at MCO a few times.

What about Iberia? Do they fly a 742 or A340 or is it just a connecting A319 from MIA?

I remember shooting the IB DC-10's back in the mid-90's. The A319's cannot operate domestic US services AFAIK.

Icelandair?
Operates Mon/Fri with B757-200.

LTU and Martinair- Do they still fly into MCO or did they switch to Sanford?

Martinair on Thu/Fri with B767-300. Not sure on LTU.

The Orlando Airport website is notorious for counting codeshares as "airlines that fly there".

JAL- No. Never.
ANA- No. Never.
Iberia - No. Never.
El Al- Seasonal with NAA feeder flights. During the summer of '96 El Al did fly TLV-MCO-MIA-TLV with a 747.
Saudi Arabian- Yes, seasonal, but I don't think they are flying there this summer.
LTU- Yes, seasonal. Weekly during the summer only. Used to be year-round until 9.11.
Icelandair- Yes, seasonal during the summer only.
Martinair- Yes, year-round to Amsterdam and Aruba.
Aerolineas Argentinas- No. Maybe in the past, but that would be the first I've heard of it.

MAH4546,

Iberia - No. Never.

Ah, I have a shot of their DC-10 in position 18R if you'd like to see it.  Smile

Transbrasil used to fly the 767-300ER from GRU to MCO during the early 90´s. It was a great 8 hour, day period flight. It catered all-u-can-it pizza and the F/As used Mickey Mouse gaps on board. We always got in Orlando just in time for the show "Medieval Times"!

Flying TR to MCO is certainly one of my tenderest childhood memories.

Cheers!

I know that LTU had scheduled service into MCO just a few years ago. Last I saw them there was late 2000. The a/c (from what I could see) didn't loo too big, definatly around 767 size.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

The ANA service is a United codeshare from IAD.

The Aruba-flights are to/from MIA.......

Mikephotos, that doesn't meant they flew there. It could likely be a diversion from MIA or a charter. Iberia has flown to LAX, YUL, and BOS, but not MCO. Of course, I could be wrong, but I'm quite certain of it.

Aerolinas, never seen it here.
ANA codeshare with UAL
ELAL used by North American
Saudi from June-Sept (744)
Iberia, probably codeshare with someone else, hasn't been here in years I don't think.
Icelandair a few times a week
LTU uses A330's in the winter and 767 in the summer (one a week on sunday)
Martinair 767 a few times a week.

Many charter airlines fly into both Sanford and MCO.

Ciro: Transbrazil has served MCO far beyond the early 1990's. I remember seeing quite a few of their 763's in April, 1997.

TransBrasil served MCO until they were forced to suspend long-hauls. Service was via MIA. If TransBrasil ever comes back, MCO and MIA are likely to return as well.
