December: 1.315.924 passengers and a load factor of 77,8%. With 64 aircraft in use on average for the month

Full year: 17.840.450 passengers and a load factor of 83,1%

Also notice they are gradually increasing their fuel hedge going forward

Norse Atlantic have opened some of the more obvious routes... and Norwegian is doing OK financially without transatlantic. The biggest LCC in Europe, Ryanair, makes a ton of money and doesn't touch long-haul.
If I were CEO of Norwegian having only just come out of a bankruptcy process, I know what I would choose

Writing this using the absolutely brilliant free WiFi on a Norwegian B738 (LN-ENM). The flight before mine and my LGW-BGO flight both completely full. A very impressive comeback.

Isn't it only free for 15 minutes now? Back in the day it was always free for the duration of the flight.

I've flown them quite a bit recently and another flight coming up this afternoon. I notice the Wi-Fi is not equipped on every flight and/or often times just doesn't work. It's a nice perk to have, but I wonder if DY is not prioritizing it anymore, and obviously started charging for it too.

January saw 1.131.474 passengers and a load of 77,7%. The latter about the same as in December, implying they have manage to adjust capacity in the slow month of January

On average 62 aircraft in use.

Using their Q1 CASK and January RASK they lost about $20 million in January, which is OK consider January is among the worst month for air traffic in Scandinavia.

They also highlight good ticket sale and future booking and that the routes to Southern Europa from Scandinavia is doing good

Do you know what the interiors are like on these birds versus their 738s, any differences? Some of the older 738s are in rough shape.

Will interiors be swapped out on the newly leased six MAXs which are already parked in OSL?

The interior of their MAXes is quite similar their 738s. The exception here, is some of the older ones, and yes a few of those are showing their age

A photo I took onbord one of their MAX in July

Don't know, but Flyr's are basically in a Blue Air interior, and their first (if not all) was originally built for them. That said, they are all in the standard European LCC configuration with 189 seats, so it is not that Norwegian have to do anything, except changing some logos etc.

That said, I do feel that Norwegian's seats offer slightly better legroom than ex-Flyr's

100% agree. Flew Flyr last summer on a 4 hour flight and felt way more cramped in the seat versus DY.

Thanks for the photo, the seats look shiny and new compared to the past few 738 seats I've been stuck in recently. But less padding? I also wonder why DY doesn't use overhead screens anymore for their safety demos. The screens are there, but never drop.

I hope that as they are back up and running after their financial difficulties, they can concentrate on some enhancements. Safety demo on the screen, reinstating the boarding music (they spent so much on their sound identity and it sounds great) and so forth. I prefer them leaps and bounds over SAS, and we don't have many other options in Norway.

Norwegian presented their Q4 and full year result today. Better than expected in Q4 with a small EBIT loss of 39 MNOK (just under $4 mill) and full year profit of 1500 MNOK, although it would have been negative without the Boeing compensation.

But all in all, they are on schedule to become profitable in 2023. But as usual for a northern European company, Q1 will be loss making as always

https://www.norwegian.no/globalassets/i ... tation.pdf

The 6 MAXes taking on lease after Flyr, will be leased for 11 years with the same conditions Flyr had

Returned from NWI in Norwegian's livery yesterday, while LN-FGI went to NWI for paint. Still without "tail hero" but assume this will be applied at OSL

Seems like they kept the "Blue Air" seats and interior

Planespotters does a pretty good job of tracking which ones have been added/removed, 45 out of 79 aircraft have them plus the special Wireless internet cs

Many thanks! From what I see, all of them Nordic heroes? They used to have some well-known famous icons, Spanish writers ...

Yes, but at the same time, post-restructuring, they have somewhat gone back to their more Nordic heartland. With a few exceptions

That said, I do expect the proportion of the fleet with a tail hero to increase going forward. As they have now started to apply them again. Both on new aircraft and on older ones when they are inn for the very small rebranding, they did last year

1,5 million passengers, and a load factor of 81,1% in March. 67 aircraft in use.

Norwegian also reports on good bookings going into the Summer

https://www.aviation24.be/airlines/norw ... -in-march/

Norwegian had 1.5 million passengers and a load factor of 81 percent in March. The first month of spring marks the return of the summer schedule with a considerable increase in capacity. In the meantime, Norwegian continues to experience strong booking momentum, far above the booking levels seen this time last year.

LN-FGJ did enter scheduled traffic this weekend, and LN-FGI returned from paint today

Wasn't the slightly revised livery supposed to be without the .com after Norwegian, Red Box for the person's name and no more Norwegian on the blue line on the tail?

It's surprising to see this pkane was painted with the older livery.

Yes, not sure while it came with the old livery. FGJ/FGI both got the new one

RTE is a new build direct from Boeing (via a lessor), as opposed to a used plane that needed to be repainted into DY branding. It’s possible that DY did not provide Boeing the new livery plans in time. Even if it is minor changes like removal of .com OEM paints what they officially have on file unless told otherwise. DY applies the tail art themselves after delivery hence why it would have the new style without the blue background.

I don’t remember when DY exactly revised their livery but RTD which is also a new build delivered a few months before RTE also has the old livery.

Norwegian have overhauled their Reward scheme and have added a loose ‘tier’ system - one new benefit (free checked baggage, priority boarding, fast track etc) every 8 flights, 32 makes you a ‘Premium Member’.

That should convert some regular SAS economy passengers on domestic.

In December and again recently when I was at OSL I could see a parked ex-Norwegian Air 787 off in the distance. Anyone know how long it's been sitting there and what its future is?

It is LN-LNC, and has been parked at OSL since 2020

Not sure about its future, but its owner has been trying to sell it. But I heard everything from it being parted out at OSL to getting a new operator/owner. Not sure who actually owns it as it left they Norwegian fleet during the restructuring

I fly Norwegian once a week, sometimes more often, and I personally do not see the benefit of these changes. I’m one of those who preferred the old program with benefits accruing every 6th flight instead of 8th. I believe it’s a dilute of the overall program and a free tea/coffee doesn’t necessarily win me over as I get a nice large cup of tea to bring on board from the OSL airport whenever needed. I’m not convinced these rule changes will actually see loyal SAS customers jump ship to DY.

The tier system of benefits has been there before the overhaul as well.

EBIT of minus 916 MNOK (about MUSD 86) in Q1. Slightly better, both when it comes to the result and revenue, than expected by most analyst. Q1 is always terrible in Norway, with low revenue and high cost. But all analyst and the company itself expect a full year profit. They are also bullish for the coming Summer

737- MAX 8 SE-RTG (ln 8600) delivered from Boeing to OSL 25/26 May

Former Flyr MAX8s:
LN-FGH is painted, and flown NWI-CPH yesterday
At the same time LN-FGF was flown OSL-NWI for paint into Norwegian colours

LN-FGI had a pitstop in OSL and got its tail hero applied: Piet Hein (used to be on LN-NOT). While LN-FGJ is now at OSL to get its tail hero applied. Although still unknown to me who
