Plan looks to be 3x weekly for each.

I'm over the moon reading this, St Augustine is a fabulous little city that deserves much more attention, however I'm not sure HVN/ILG are really the best initial destinations for an airport that hasn't seen service in a good few years. I get they make sense for Avelo, and I'm sure they could pull a few punters from Delaware/New Haven for short breaks over summer, but I don't think that's really a stellar list of destinations to convince people to stop using JAX and move back to UST.

Regardless, great news. I will be sure to try and get myself on one of the inaugurals.

I remember Frontier flew out of UST a few years ago. With the approach Avelo has been going with their routes, I can picture this station being successful.

I agree, great news for St. Augustine. Seems a little too particular city pairings but hopefully if they go for it, they stick around. UST has been burned enough by comers and goers. With St. John’s county blowing up the way it is, it’s only a matter of time before someone finds gold at UST.

Hi, Avelo has been doing charter flights to Curacao several times now. One of the destinations is MCO and IND. Does anyone know who chartered these flights? They are all operated by the same aircraft every time: N803XT. This morning it departed CUR going to IND. The flight number today is XP8587. Are these chartered by a hotel or tour operator?

All 6 Florida cities from HVN are doing very well with some cities having days with 2 flights. I thought the next city would be JAX, but UST sounds better, no competition and 3 days a week is a good litmus test for the market. Avelo found an untapped market in HVN.

Doesn't Breeze fly BDL-JAX? I'd say if they can make that work then HVN-UST would work. I question ILG, but RDU would probably do well. I actually wonder how well Avelo would do in VRB.

Not that I expect this route to be announced from HVN, but LAS is a big business convention and trade show destination, something the CT/East Coast casinos are not. That said, Avelo doesn’t seem to be intentionally chasing that traffic but likely attracts some anyway for MCO (another major convention city).

Interesting is everything I have read has hinted at new RouteS, but that's the only route I see...wonder if there is more to come?

The instagram story announcing BFM-MCO is rather tongue-in-cheek about the Airbus factory being onsite, with a call to “have the croissants ready” and even an A20N photoshopped in.

We’ve heard from the CEO that the 737NG is currently performing very well for the company, and they fit the mission profile quite well. It does raise an interesting question, however. The original plan was to have MAXes, but that was shifted in favor of the NG I believe as a result of the MAX grounding. As the global NG fleet starts to age out, would it make sense for Avelo to shift towards NEOs? Type commonality would obviously be a huge factor in favor of the MAX, but if the NEO proves to be more cost effective, it presents an interesting crossroads when the time eventually comes to do away with some of the older NG’s.

Flight attendants got up twice during the 2.5 hour flights to walk the aisle and pick up trash but no service whatsoever at all. Lost both our car seats CID to MCO. No infrastructure even at MCO. They have no at airport baggage service departments. After our car seats didn’t show up at baggage claim and no one was to be found picked up white phone to have them paged. Airport operator said they don’t have anyone and to call the 800 number. Avelo agent on phone said to go

Having had to buy three car seats over the years, I can safely say that potentially is a big bill for you...
I work at CID and am usually I side the terminal when the Avelo flights land and they do seem to have quite a few people congregating around the baggage carousel. I just wonder how long the service will remain viable or if passenger loads will tank and they never even make it back to DBQ.

The NG's have lots of life left and are less costly to acquire. In a downturn, Avelo has a better chance of getting through it than Breeze with all those new A-220's and the payments that go with them.

Are the RDU adds for moving airplanes around the network? Are they planning on selling connections? I can't imagine there's a big draw between any of RDU, ROC, and MEM by themselves.

Won’t be MCO-BFM, that got announced yesterday
https://www.aveloair.com/route-announce ... to-orlando

So the 4 new cities and 5 new routes are more likely

It’s about time they took a look at MHT. Been sorely lacking in service since the WN drawdown and transfers to BOS, will be interesting to see how that one plays out

Avelo seems to be chasing very poor markets. A week or so ago they announced BRO-MCO & BRO-BUR and now BFM-MCO. These are two of the poorest cities in the south. There’s a reason no other ULCC flys to either. If there was a market F9 or NK would be there already.

I don’t see how these last even at a few times per week.

When i worked for Southwest and we started service to GSP in 2011 there was a daily nonstop to MCO . The MCO turn usually was from BWI but not many locals from GSP traveling to MCO as that flight was mostly Thru passengers.
12 years have passed since Southwest started GSP to MCO then discontinued the route. Maybe demand for MCO out of GSP has increased. Who Knows but i wish Avelo luck in GSP.

Apparently it has. Silver has increased the number of weekly flights to MCO from GSP due to demand and Allegiant is holding steady with their service to SFB. The population of the Upstate SC area has grown a lot since 2011 also. I’m not sure yet how many of these six weekly flights are going to be to MCO and how many to HVN yet. My guess is a four-two split though.

Not every market needs daily nonstop flights to every destination. They fly the days that have the most demand and use the planes on other routes when there’s no demand.

GSP is now bookable on the app. Looks to be twice a week to HVN and MCO. HVN starts June 22nd and MCO starts June 7th. Four times total. I guess the six was wrong. 737-700 for HVN and 737-800 for MCO.

MHT-RDU should do well. I'd say ROC-RDU and HVN-GSP have a chance as well. Lots of people in the Northeast love NC. If someone told me 3 years ago that an airline would be flying a 737 on HVN-GSP, I would've laughed so hard though!

What? What does poor have to do with it? Airlines aren’t going to cover every market. Allegiant flies from MFE-LAX/SFB, so my guess is they are hoping to stimulate demand in that area. Someone is flying to those areas already...

Mobile’s metro area is loaded with people with money, I’m not sure where you are getting that. Baldwin County, next to Mobile, is one of the fastest growing counties in Alabama. I think these markets are worth a shot, and we will see what happens. Avelo is a smart company who pulls out of places where its disastrous early on.

I think for the entirety of the market share on that route they should be ok, especially if the frequencies are right. In general its a cool route imo.

I can see AA starting this daily on a 76 seater except on Saturdays to kill this and then dump it. It would similar to their recent start of MEM/AUS.

GSP-HVN is an oddddddd route, especially since RDU is already served. Must be a corporate contract or something. I'm pretty annoyed we got GSP before ATL, SJU, or CLT.

Edit: I was thinking of GSO, not GSP. This is still weird, though. It's clearly meant to serve CLT area.

Seems like if that were the case, though, they would be serving USA or even CLT. And 2x/week doesn't seem very corporate-friendly.

I think both HVN and GSP are large enough markets that it's worth a try, and GSP is relatively underserved by LCCs, although it wouldn't surprise me if it didn't work, either.

Not every market needs daily nonstop flights to every destination. They fly the days that have the most demand and use the planes on other routes when there’s no demand.

BRO is also the first dot to be connected to both their Eastern and Western networks, so it could be in part a flow-through for planes.

Except planes wont flow through. BRO and now HVN GSP are setting up for failure

I too think HVN-GSP is odd and not an in-demand route BUT, maybe there is more New England-GSP demand then I can imagine. If Avelo at HVN is already starting to draw pax from Rhode Island, parts of Massachusetts, NY state (anecdotal but I have not seen hard numbers), and if HVN is the only New England destination then maybe 2x a week works, but it does seem a big gamble.

I can confirm this, I definitely saw all three appear on the route map earlier today.

Avelo seems to be announcing new routes every Tuesday and Thursday, so perhaps they're in store for next week.

I could actually see GSP-HVN working out. There’s really no service to that part of the northeast currently
from GSP except for NYC. Nothing to Providence, Hartford, Bridgeport, Stamford, Springfield, Boston, etc. If Avelo can somehow pull from those metro areas then I can see the route being successful.

Must say I agree. I think most of us had written off HVN-ILM however they're taking it to 4x weekly this summer. There must be some good fruit between New Haven and the Carolinas.
