To start 2023 off, does anyone have an updated tally of deliveries B6 is expected to receive this year by aircraft type?

Are you taking about projected 2023 deliveries or total for 2022?

No worries, just wanted to make sure. According to the 10Q filed in November 2022, the original delivery schedule for 2023 was:
321Neo: 11
A220: 18

However, an updated purchase agreement signed with Airbus in September stated that the new delivery schedule due to Airbus delays will be:
321Neo: 8
A220: 14

The newest A220, N3115J, entered service this week. That makes it 13 active in the fleet. The 14th, N3118J is in Jacksonville right now being readied for service sometime in January.

Let's see if Airbus actually delivers on that. Airbus has been poor with delivering on-time, so much so that the aircraft retirement schedule continues to change.

But, as of right now, the schedule does show a good number of Lease Returns and "Exits" for both the E190 and A320s. It will be an interesting year for the fleet to say the least!

I agree. The original 220 delivery schedule for 2023 was 21. Then it dropped to 18, then 14. I bet B6 will be lucky to receive 12, but I hope I’m wrong.

Any reason as to why they got rid of the Fly-fi livery on 709?

Maybe it’s some temporary thing. 569 no longer has the 10th anniversary livery, and 655 no longer has the 100 tail, both of which are now highrise.

Do you think eventually The Airbus A320 will leave the JetBlue fleet as more A220s enter the Fleet. There are no pending orders for A320s. As far as A319s being inherited from Spirit I dont see Jetblue would have any need for them with A220s coming.

Will their “retro” livery be repainted this year? IMHO I never cared for it.

Will we also see the NYPD and FDNY planes get a livery refresh?

If JetBlue's merger with Spirit is approved & consummated, Spirit will add 69 active A320NEOs to JetBlue's fleet, with 67 more on order and 50 options. There are also open Spirit orders for 31 A319NEOs, as well as 31 A321NEOs. The A319NEOs aren't scheduled to start delivery until 2024, or 2025, so plans could change.

As for the A220s, JetBlue has 14 in the fleet with 86 remaining on order. They were purchased to replace their E190 fleet by 2025. However, with the slower than expected delivery rate of the A220s, some of the remaining E190 fleet could serve beyond 2025. So far, 9 of the E190 fleet have been retired in 2022 and 52 remain in service.

N568JB was surrounded by emergency vehicles on the ramp at LGA this afternoon. Looked like a large spill on the right side. It was towed back to the gate.

This was at LGA or JFK? If it’s at LGA and a separate incident- that’s a bad day for JetBlue.

Why does everyone hate JetBlue on A.Net?
American and Delta nearly collided…… all major airlines receive bad press…

Just pointing out the string of bad luck. These two incidents coupled with the WSJ rankings release is a bad day at the office.

The A220 is a great airplane and I think we'll see JetBlue ordering the A220-500 when it finally comes into being. That said, it's just not a 1:1 320 replacement. If they don't get a pile of NEO's from Spirit, I think a 320NEO order would be necessary in future.

Hope my flight, 365 from BOS-RSW, on 3/10 can be switched to a 32M, as it's currently a 320 Classic. B6 does switch 320's between classic and 32M, so there's some hope. At least my flight home (166 on 3/16) is on a 321! (9** CEO, of course!)

Personally I would jump at the chance to fly a classic again. That’s an experience you’re not going to be able to have again within the next two years, while the new JetBlue experience is going to be offered for years to come.

The classic A320s feel like the old JetBlue. They are old, nostalgic, unique, and have a lot of history that comes with them. And the flight attendants love working them due to the large galley space.

Why would a -500 not be a 1:1 replacement for a 320ceo? Obviously we don’t know the specifications, but a theoretical a220-500 would likely hold about 160 people in JetBlue’s configuration.

The spirit a320neos will obviously fly for years if the merger is successful, but I’d expect an a220-500 to replace the 500 and 600 series a320s in the long term, and the airbus 32x order to point toward the 321.

I agree with what you're saying. It's weird that they cap the FRONT windows for more forward galley space when they put Row 27 with NO window where the bathrooms were. Why did they do that?

Row 27 is where Lav D and Lav E used to be. While it is an option to add a window back there when changing the configuration, it was not exercised probably due to additional costs.

Also, the S1 storage unit by the L1 door contains a bunch of stuff for the IFE system in it, it's much easier for the wiring of the system, and for the system upkeep and resets for it to be by the fwd galley. So if you have the S1, you might as well have the G2 installed to even out where row 1 starts. Since a monument was put into those areas, the window gets plugged.

There is not. BOS right now is the only A220 base. Rumors are circulating of a FLL 220 base to provide recovery options in Florida, but till Airbus sorts out delivery pains and more are delivered it’s anyone’s guess at this point.

321Neo: 8
A220: 14

This was reconfirmed on today's earnings announcement. The A321's will be 4 A321NEO and 4 A321LR, and all will be outfitted with Mint.

Do other airlines make as many tech stops (refueling) as B6 does?

Saw somewhere that N964JT got repainted with the "Ribbons" tailfin. Interesting that they gave a standard A321 a tailfin pattern we'd usually see on the Mint A321neos.

N964JT is a Mint A321. All Mint A321s, neo or ceo, are being standardized on the Ribbon tail.

Quite a few of the A321CEO HD aircraft were re-painted in the "balloons" c/s, so it seems the "prism" is being phased out (maybe?). Not sure, I'll have to reach out to my co-worker in Interior Engineering (that ironically handles the liveries) to see what is happening with the re-paints. I know that group has been very busy with other projects so they haven't had time to do new standard liveries but did do the re-designs for a couple of the specials lately. But, it may also be getting driven by the Brand Crew, they ultimately control EVERYTHING LOL! I don't see re-paints much as those happen in MCN and VQQ while most of my HMV tours are in SAL (with the occasional rotation to QRO). The A320s have been stuck on the "spotlights" livery since before COVID now, we're due for a new one. Let me see what I can find out that doesn't breach social media rules.

Yes Prism is going away. The standard on the 320 will be Spotlight, and for the 321s, the different tails between domestic mint, tatl, and HD.

Blueberries will be gone. Very few remain.

I’d love to see stripes come back some day. Classic and simple. But it probably won’t.

Also to add the A220/E190 fleet will be the “hops” tail.

I agree, stripes was a great tail. I really liked Harlequin as well. It’d be neat if they kept one from every tail, sort of like “heritage “ schemes.

Saw somewhere that N964JT got repainted with the "Ribbons" tailfin. Interesting that they gave a standard A321 a tailfin pattern we'd usually see on the Mint A321neos.

B6 put out at some point they were standardizing tails.
190/220: “hops”
320: “spotlight”
321CEO/NEO Core: “balloons”
321CEO/NEO Mint: “ribbons”
321NEO-LR: “streamers”

Ugh. 520 was a fun one. When it first came in it flew around unpainted straight from the factory, B6 just wanted to get it in service asap for the busy season

Isn’t N503JB the first one? Speaking of which? Any plans to preserve that one?

You’re off by nearly 2 1/2 years. 503 is the oldest, and active I might add, A320 in JetBlue’s fleet. Titled BLUEBIRD, but affectionately known in-house as Christine, I saw it 2 days ago operating BOS-LAS.

I’m guessing he meant the first to be retired. But it’s status is in question.

JetBlue has retired in A320s in the past, when they were operating under a since abandoned strategy of keeping overall fleet age low to save of maintenance costs. A few ended up coming back to B6 but not all.

What's the status of the Embraers? How many are left? When will they be gone?
