CLE-SJU is looooong overdue.

Agreed and thanks for the teaser...assume that's the 1/31 F9 announcement? Prefer UA like the old days, but can't be picky in the CLE.
greenair727 wrote:I thought the 1/31 announcement was a new F9 crew domicile at CLE---but some new routes also, would be nice.

DTW ORD BOS JFK etc-- there are alternatives. I suppose if CLE is a one trick pony with only the flight to Ireland, it's more likely flight would be held for late comers but still-- stuff happens. And by the way PIT hasn't seen this happen with several years of LHR now in the books, bigger plane more service.

This sked would open up some new connecting opportunities in the morning bank through Dublin not currently available. A few of these are currently available, but with 8+ hours connection times. Not reasonable.
CLE-DUB- FRA/FCO/MUC/MAD/LYS/DUS/BRU/TFS/VIE/LIN/BCN

Interesting that biggest city most fortress hub-like DTW is most expensive. In theory STL has longest stage length and CLE has the shortest but we all know stage length doesnt' drive fares, supply and demand does.
I'm surprised that in CLE EI isn't the most cost competitive option to LHR, that Delta is. I'd have thought EI had a bit of a low fare aspect to their CLE presence, not WOW fares, but not BA/UA/AA either. No one will be driving to CLE for those fares.
Airport fees and taxes at LHR are highest of any airport I've noticed, so that may make a comparison to DUB and FRA a bit unfair. LHR is such an in demand city, one of the world's great cities, they can commamd a premium.
Hate to say it Mohawk but welcome to summer fares of the 2020's those look quite normal to me compared to other fares I've explored.
I used to drive to PIT etc to save money now I'm a little more in CLEguy's camp, however where it is worth it to me is for nonstop or fewer stops, then I think an easy 1:45 drive from east side to PIT is a well worth it, and in fact I"m doing so in a few weeks for LHR.

Makes it tough to sleep much when you are arriving just after midnight origin time. I always liked a later flight time but I get earlier times have their benefits also.

It’s great if you’re staying with family, ie. you can head straight to bed and it’s like going to sleep at 1 or 2am if you don’t sleep on the flight.

Great for connections, but pretty bad if your destination is DUB and you want to land then check into a hotel. Arriving at a few hours early at a hotel at 9 or 10am, you usually can check in at that time. But if you arrive at 630 or 700am and the officially check-in time is 2pm, the early check-in is far more difficult--and you may have to book the previous night as well, even though you're on the plane for most of it...

SJU-CUN also plus a couple routes added to other Puerto Rico airports also. Was not what I expected

I'm happy to see SJU back, but what a let-down-one new route 4x weekly. Guess you can't always trust rumors.

I generally don't like any non-daily operation though I know we should happily take whatever we can get. That said, wasn't UA/CO's flight Saturday-only? Regarding rumors, Massey was on target with his mofongos teaser. The person who said we were getting a new F9 crew domicile should go hunt down his/her source!

From the MCI new terminal thread, not sure where CLE falls on this list, but we aren't on it!
Here are the Q3 2022 PDEW's to the top contiguous U.S. markets traveled to from MCI that don't currently have WN nonstop service out of MCI:
MCI-SEA - 309 (WN is going to be resuming MCI-SEA nonstop service on a Saturday-only basis starting on 6/10/2023)
MCI-BOS - 255 (WN previously served BOS nonstop from MCI)
MCI-DTW - 165
MCI-MSP - 151 (WN is going to be resuming MCI-MSP nonstop service on 7/11/2023)
MCI-PHL - 150
MCI-CLT - 148
MCI-SLC - 134 (WN previously served SLC nonstop from MCI)
MCI-PDX - 113 (WN is going to be resuming MCI-PDX nonstop service on a Saturday-only basis starting on 6/10/2023)
MCI-RDU - 93 (WN is going to be resuming MCI-RDU nonstop service on a Sunday-only basis starting on 6/4/2023)
MCI-PNS - 86 (WN is going to be resuming MCI-PNS nonstop service on a Saturday-only basis starting on 4/15/2023)

I have no info. But I like the concept as it allows much needed operational flexibility and makes sense when some airlines (e.g, AS, EI, etc) have only one or two flights a day or less and don't need to desk the full day (or every day). How does this work when the airlines are in a lease contract for fixed space---or will these contracts be re-written?
masseybrown wrote:CUPPS is apparently designed to an IATA specification so it is internationally compatible. What I was looking for is any schedule on award and installation. The airport is very good about posting RFPs and RFQs, not so good about posting awards.
