Linked announcement says 2x of each firm order, 1x option for each. Unless google translate is way off.

Just adding this for consistency's sake:

Delta takes options for additional 12, A220-300s

I clicked the link and have a look on article. Yours is correct, 2 for each, 1x option each.

I don't know if I am imagining things, but I thought when the 2023 threads were created on Dec 31 2022, the moderators had split the 2023 Airbus and Boeing orders into separate threads one for Airbus and one for Boeing. I personally liked the concept of separate threads for Airbus and Boeing. Was there a published reason for reverting to Airbus/Boeing combined? Thanks in advance for clarifying. This also applies to 2023 Airbus/Boeing Deliveries threads.

Confirmed by Airbus:
https://www.airbus.com/en/newsroom/pres ... y-aircraft
Uzbekistan Airways, the national carrier of the Republic of Uzbekistan, has placed a firm order with Airbus for 12 A320neo Family aircraft (eight A320neo and four A321neo). The new aircraft will join the carrier’s current fleet of 17 Airbus A320 Family aircraft. The choice of the engines will be made by the airline at a later stage.

The A320neo Family aircraft will feature the new Airbus Airspace cabin, bringing premium comfort to the single aisle market. The airline is planning to operate its new aircraft to further develop its domestic and international route network.

The Airbus PR is dated today, so whatever was previously announced wasn't a firm order and wasn't listed on Airbus's O&D spreadsheet.

Maybe because those three have already been delivered to their purchaser and are now ntus?

The Airbus release is interesting for what it does NOT say. If the 4xFs were the 4 recently announced for an undisclosed purchaser, I think they would have indicated that, but perhaps not.

Not too long to find out with the monthly figures.

If they were originally delivered to their purchaser then they are not NTUs and Airbus wouldn’t be responsible for the order (AF/KLM says the order is with Airbus). Airbus withdrew SU “deliveries” due to unexpected sanctions, but if they start doing things like that with other deliveries they would probably start to attract some heat from financial regulators in regards to misleading investors.

I’m guessing the A350F order was finalized last month and the passenger order may not be yet. This isn’t the first time that there was a lag between when AF said something was firm vs when Airbus said it was firmed. Similar thing occurred in regards to A380 cancellation/A350 top up.

Southwest firms orders for 10 737-MAX 7. While the same time 4 existing orders for the -7 is converted to -8

https://www.ch-aviation.com/portal/news ... some-to-8s

Southwest Airlines (WN, Dallas Love Field) has increased its B737 MAX backlog by firming ten B737-7 options, while also converting four earlier -7 order into B737-8s.

And US Air Force orders 15 more KC-46

https://www.aviation24.be/manufacturers ... a-tankers/

The U.S. Air Force has awarded Boeing a $2.3 billion contract for the ninth production lot of 15 KC-46A Pegasus tanker aircraft, expanding its fleet of the world’s most advanced multi-mission aerial refueler. To date, 128 KC-46A Pegasus are on contract with the U.S. Air Force, with 68 delivered and operationally deployed worldwide.

When the AI order is announced it will be a nice start to the new year for Airbus in the WB category, after an ugly 2022

Leeham has an analysis of orders at risk at end-2022, including the comment "One order materially affects OEM twin-aisle market share"

The detail is behind their paywall.

This comment could refer to QR's A350 order, since apparently resolved, or maybe one of the delayed 777X orders

Nope. I think more United 100 787s. Airbus -45 a350s

QR will still take the 777-9 as they’ve always planned to, as well as the freighter

With the reinstatement of Airbus A350-1000 and A321neo orders for QR and the uncertainty around the 777-8, we can't tell yet if QR is going to take everything they have on order.
Agreed, the recent United 787 order is also creating uncertainty for the A350 they still have on order.

The fact that they are talking about effects on twin aisle market share makes me agree with Rhal97 that it is probably UA order they are talking about (with A350 order uncertain, Leeham has been rather pessimistic about it). I’m not sure QR reinstatement really shifts wide body market share that much.

Depends on how 'material' 30 aircraft are, but there is a strong "rumour" that EK will be cancelling their 789 order.

(The word "rumour" chosen to satisfy the forum's rules, as I can't point to any internal sources)

I doubt Boeing will agree to that.

Conversion back to 777X perhaps, if EK feels confident about the program again.

Certainly not. But I personally was thinking Leeham meant the EK 777X order. If that gets cancelled, and EK orders 150 A350s instead, it would be a massive shift in widebody order share. 2023 will be a pivotal year for the 777X, Boeing appears to focus on getting certification on track again, at least for completion and EIS in 2025. Any further delays and EK's (and perhaps other airlines) patience may be over.

They haven’t but it’s an order that Leeham has classified at risk even before the 787 order. And the 100+ 787 order does change the outlook of things given that Boeing has delivered twice as many 787s than airbus has delivered 350s and still has a bigger backlog. And that is part due to the United order. The 330neo order book is like what 250 units? Add that to Boeings strong freighter dominance with strong 777F sales, healthy 777Xf sales (which has outsold the 350F) the widebody market share starts leaning towards 60:40

Also ADD that the 350 order number is not 934 units as airbus says. Iran air is still counted in there for example and I’m sure there are others we may not be aware of

As far as I can tell based on the other January 2023 Airbus O&D table, the cancellation of 1x A320neo belongs to Viva Air. This looks like another transfer from Viva Air to DAE Capital, although it was booked as an order and a cancellation.

The other changes in the order book:
Conversions / Transfer of orders
NAS Aviation Services 1x A321neo → A320neo
BOC Aviation 2x A320neo → Flynas (This continues their weird order changes from November and December)

Previously undisclosed:
Jet2.plc 3x A321neo (Apparently they were already announced in October https://www.airbus.com/en/newsroom/pres ... mily-to-98 , but only disclosed in the order book now)
Martinair 4x A350F (as expected, see https://www.airbus.com/en/newsroom/pres ... e-fleet-of )
Tibet Airlines 2x A319neo
