QF as always going to miss the boat…

They’ve had an opportunity to implement a new route but out of spite chooses to discontinue the service…

Unfortunately that's the way both QF and JQ operate, it's their way or no way. They use this same approach across the entire business including dealings with suppliers, staff, and even customers.

I do sense change in the wind though…. Cam Wallace ex-NZ, Leanne Langridge also ex-NZ, both are known for their people leadership and brand advocacy. I doubt they will be the last external appointments. I also anticipate an exec exodus after end of year results and fat bonuses- people will have hung on through Covid for a good return.

I suspect the board has also realised they need a change both brand externally, and also internally with people. AJ may deliver results for the shareholders- in fairness his primary responsibility, but other two areas aren’t his strength, even if he stays on I suspect we’ll hear and see less of him. I also suspect with huge cost reductions in labour, QF will start spending on their people again - a lower base to work off, and why not pay few people more? JQ however wouldn’t have a clue!!

I mean let’s also be a bit realistic this is SAA we are talking about… let’s see if it actually gets off the ground, and when. We can bag QF out, but they are still better run the SAA.

I do hope we eventually see MEL-JNB, I always felt VA could have made it work on the 77W if it wasn’t for the ETOPs detour- or were yields poor? Was also some 10yrs ago.

Not sure if this was mentioned but seems like VA quietly started selling Japan originating tickets on its HND link and tickets are not cheap at all. I was expecting a price gap but on some days its almost double.

Could be a case of the revenue management system not yet having run over the flights.
Flights are fairly often released by many airlines with fare classes yet to be allocated number of seats.

This reminds me, do we have any idea when VA/Velocity might announce and implement ANA reciprocal benefits? Would have thought in advance of HND launching?

The next 2 x REX 738’s ex MI/SQ 9M-MGA/B both sighted a Changi parked minus engines, assuming these will both be reconfigured as they are currently in a C12Y150 configuration.

What's interesting is that MEL was in SA's pipeline pre-COVID, but yes I don't see the flights happening anytime soon.

We will probs see QF launch MEL-JNB with a 789 before SA launches.

Did qf stop per-hba abruptly? Or was this always a seasonal route over peak summer only.
