Erie and Laughlin would be perfect matches for Avelo and Frontier to Chattanooga would be a nice match as well.

Using DBQ's 1.5 million as an example, that is just a drop in the bucket when EAS is $4-6 million a year for jet services.

They'd have to get TSA back and all. As to who would serve it, I think CIC-LAX distance rules out a Boutique/Southern operation. Contour's E-135's might be the right size, but they aren't at LAX and that cost would probably be too high. CIC needs the connections at LAX, so BUR/ONT/LGB, etc wouldn't suit their need. It's a college town (Chico State) of 100K surrounded by almond orchards and only 100 miles north of Sacramento, so this could be hard thing to make come true. Restoring SFO service might be the best they could hope for, but that probably wouldn't suit Contour either (they are at OAK, not SFO, for the CEC service).

Pacific Express, early '80s? HQ was in Chico.

DBQ's problem is they are 60 minutes from CID, 75 minutes from MLI and like 180 minutes from ORD. There's no reason to have service at DBQ. Even when they did have service on AA, locals wouldnt use the service in large numbers even with lower fares than the exact same airline (AA) at CID. Locals were literally paying more to not fly from DBQ than to fly from DBQ.

Pacific Express operated a same-plane CIC-SFO-LAX route. But like you I do not remember anyone who ever operated a CIC-LAX nonstop.

If French Valley's application really says "9-seat Part-135" that exclusively means Southern Airways Express, which is tailoring a grant request to a single airline (a no no in the eyes of DOT)
