Il-86/96 in the west?
I heard somewhere that Il-86/96 customers are going to have the option of western built engines. If this is true, does anyone know of any airlines that are going to buy this varient?

yes, they are planning to make somethihng with PW engines, but any western airline- I will seriously doubt that- West DOES NOT like our planes...

That's ashame because personally I think the Il-86 is a great airliner (though I've never flown on one). Also the Il-96 is a great aircraft, although I don't like the winglets.

ooooooooh, flight in Il-86 brings sweet and dear memories in my mind...
flight SUwhatever- UUEE-LCDG the plane is huuuuuuuuuuuge, engines are smooth and actually, I never heard of any engine failures on 86..
it is something, like a flying iron- you throw it and it flies through anything- Turbulence, head on winds. et.c.
the only 2 problem I had with -86 was an enormous fuel burn- NKs are not very good at saving money and my personal problem- the yoke...
