Grand Junction????????? Wow........never expected that.

The Concorde brought Tony Blair to Denver a few years ago, but that's it.

Air France or British Airways? Where did you hear this from?

Not sure which airine it is. A local travel company is selling the "trip of a lifetime" Grand Junction to London on the Concorde, London to New York on the Queen Elizabeth 2 Ship and back to Grand Junction. I would love to take it but can't afford a ticket.  Sad

If it's to London, then it's British Airways.

Wow....this is something.....

Wish I could be there. But Grand Junction is 200 miles away from where I am.

Hey BA, do you suppose they will use the concorde to bring Blair to the G8 summit in Calgary then?

If they can't get enough people, they will just fly the people to JFK on a regular flight(s) and then onto LHR in th Concorde. They did that when the charter from TOL couldn't get enough pax.

C172Akula,

I bet so. I'd say there is a good chance.

They had this in orlando and tampa a few years back. You fly to JFK on a regular jet, then you connect to the concorde. Call the 1800 # to find out.

1-800 # says there bringing it in to Grand Junction and going up to New York to refuel. Then on to London. Hopefully they get enough people on it as I would love to see it near where I live.

A travel company tried this package in San Antonio last year, even putting an ad in the newspaper. It hasn't happenned, and doesn't seem like it will.

I was wondering when is that going to take place?

Thanks.

Sorry to disapoint!

BA has absolutely no plans to anything else with Concorde apart from the daily flights in and out of JFK.

They can advertise all that they like but when BA are asked they will say no, the passengers can meet up with the aircraft in New York.

The BA strategy is to maximise aircraft hours on the ageing fleet and not do anything at present that would put in danger the main scheduled servcies. It would look bad for BA if the showpiece flight to London was delayed due to the imbound aicraft being delayed from Colorado.

There is also not enough aircraft available to add an additional flight in. Anyway it would double the cost as it would have to be flown in from London empty.

Sorry but it just ain't going to happen, so you need to stop get excited over this one.

Haven't Air France operated Concorde charters from LHR in the past?

Yes AF have but with only a maximum of 4 aircraft servicable (normally 3) they are now out of the main charter business.

They do however carry out "joy rides" in and out of CDG on saturdays, aircraft servicability permitting

This sounds like a similar 'charter' in April, the pax were on a BA002 out of JFK.
As BA002 loads increases, and they have been since the overnighted aircraft depart at 08:30 local, there will be less scope for this sort of thing.
The sort of charter operation you saw in the late 90's won't be coming back, Gordon pointed out why, plus at their peak charters accounted for just 9% of BA Concorde revenue.
This is not to totally rule out charters in future, you know how BA are for U-turns!
But they will be rare and expensive, and almost certainly operate out of regular Concorde destinations like JFK and BGI.
(It's an expensive logistical exercise, involving positioning Concorde certified engineers and spares).
