The Great Escapade with Singapore Airlines - A Great Way To Fly Round The World!

£825 15 Jan to Jun/1 Sep to 30 Nov
£925 1 Jan to 14 Jan/1 Dec to 9 Dec
£925 24 Dec to 31 Dec
£990 1 Jul to 31 Aug
£1155 10 Dec to 23 Dec

London - Johannesburg - Singapore - Sydney - Christchurch - Auckland - Rarotonga - Papeete - Los Angeles - London

I assume that this route is most relevant considering you state that you live in the United Kingdom.

First Class: £4999
Raffles Class: £3199

You could be flying with 3 superior airlines, namely Singapore Airlines, Air New Zealand and Virgin Atlantic Airways.

Have fun  Big thumbs up

I have done several round the world trips on Star Alliance starting in the USA. First Class is around US$7,700.00, Business Class is around US$6,600.00. My next round the world will start in Canada on Star Alliance in Business for US$5,000.00. Makes a difference where you start.

On Star Alliance I have taken: UA, LH, BD, SQ, Ansett and they have been good.

If you are in london go to TrailFinders in Kennsington and their RTW fares are really good.

The Star Alliance lite I wanted to take went for AUD$2299 for 5 stopovers (though it was 31 legs), and 26000 miles.

I Flew TUS-DFW-JFK-FCO-DXB-DEL-SIN-NRT-HNL-LAX-TUS several years ago. The only cost was 73 days on the road and the dope slap to my boss when I got home (actually that was a benefit). I didn't even get a chance to see any sights in that two and a half months except hangars, buses and hotel rooms. I earn somewhere around 1/3 what I did then but I come home every night and know where I am when I wake up.

Forget the quicky RTW trip. Go when you can spend time with the people and sights along the way. You'll have much better memories. Of course if you are a masochist, you could become a maintenance troubleshooter for a large airline.

Did 3 RTW's in the last 10 months, all on Star alliance, ex KUL. Two pre 9/11 and one in January 2002.

Paid USD 5108 each time for the base ticket, and for the first two, about 100 bucks in taxes and the one post 9/11 cost about 175 in taxes.

Trip 2 as per the first one

All done only on three carriers: SQ, UA and RG

Star alliance sells their RTW fares by mileage I think, and mine were the 34,000 mile versions.
