Which Is The Airline You Would Never Fly?

Thu Jun 06, 2002 8:23 am

Hi,
which is the airline you wouldn't like to fly?
You can choose either by the aircrafts, service, safety or because of the ugly air-hostesses.
Mine would probably be:
Aeroflot
Iran Air
Egypt Air
PIA
Saudi Arabian
Ada Air
that's about it.

CI-What can i say about this?
KE- same as CI, but getting better
southwest- would avoid them as much as possible. Too many bad experiences.

For international flight- All US carriers. Service is too poor for me to suffer on long trips.

Vangaurd- Who knows if they will be flying tomorrow.
America West- After they ruined my brand new lugage the first time, Never again!!!

Based on what I've heard......Olympic:

I know someone who flew on Olympic Airways and found the service to be rather primitive. The inflight meal (and entertainment) on a FCO-ATH segment consisted of a fat lady with missing teeth and a hairy tit hanging out of her blouse, going down the aisle with a bowl of jelly beans from which the passengers reached in a grabbed a handful. Hmmm......

Well TBird, since all my vehicles are older than you, I shan't stop to pick you up when you need help.  Innocent

Seriously though. When was the last time an "old" NW DC-9 or 727 caused a fatality?

Airlines I won't fly are:
United, American and China Air Lines. UA because I don't think much of them, AA because I hate DC-9s and CI because I choose not to die on my next flight. OK, hate is too strong a word since it's impossible to hate an inanimate object. Let's say that I think the DC-9 is a fine airplane to carry passengers from Kansas City to Paducah. I just have a problem sitting beside a howling engine on one side and a howling baby on the other. For some reason that's always where I've been on DC-9s.

What, may I ask, is terribly wrong with all of the lowfare airlines in the US. They get you where you need to go efficiently without all the bs of the majors.

While I love to fly in almost any circumstance, I would try to avoid airlines such as Cubana and Aeroflot. Somehow, I just don't trust their planes, although Aeroflot seems to be getting much better.

What The Hell?

Thu Jun 06, 2002 12:15 pm

What the hell ????????????????????????????????
Why many people choose El Al as the airline they would never fly ?????
Did you guys know that El Al Airlines had ONLY 2 crashes along its history ?
One of a Lockheed L-049 with 58 fatalities (1951) ? and
One of a Douglas DC-4 with 6 fatalities out of 7 (1955) ? and

Did you guys know that El Al Airlines has ONLY and ONLY pilots form Israeli Army ? , one of the most respected Armys in the world? and

Did you guys know that El Al airlines was the first airline to implement the shielded cockpit door in the lates 197x's ? and

Did you guys know that when you fly El Al Airlines there's a Civil Security Agent travelling as a regular passenger without you to notice who's him ?

I think you'd better think it twice before making such judgment.

As for me, i wouldn't fly:
Any russian airline
China Airlines
Aeroflot

Well back to the topic,

Airlines that I have flown and choose never to fly with them again:

OLYMPIC
PIA
China Southern
Korean Air

Airlines that I have never flown but will never fly with them anyway:

NONE
(How can I make such a decision if I have never even tried them? Won't avoid them just because of what the less level-headed a.net members say)

Airlines that I will never fly with based on proven track record:

China Airlines
Biman

I think I would definately fly just one airlines in this world:

i. China Airlines

Well, I RATHER not fly the following airlines (but would if I had no choice):

i. Biman Bangladesh
ii. Air India
iii. Qantas
iv. Indonesian domestic airlines (After lots of stories from Mandala499, no thanks)...

Contary to what everybody else has said, I would LOVE to try any Russian Airline, best still, any Russian Airline with a Russian Aircraft! That'll be the day man woohoooooo~!

I second what many of you have said I would never step aboard a CI flight. The fact that people still fly this airline boggles the mind. The only US major I would think twice about flying would be HP. Not because of their safety mind you which, I am sure, is fine but because of the downright awful service I have received from them in the past. I don't expect the best service on a cheap fare but, I also don't expect to be abused and treated like garbage.

By the way, I am baffled by two of the airlines that people have chosen over and over again. First, why Air China? Their safety record is excellent (their first crash occurred a month ago). Second, why EL AL? Certainly the security situation in Israel sucks right now but the very, very long tradition of security at EL AL remains unchanged. I, for one, would not hesitate to fly LY.

Finally Jmc1975 I have seen you post that account of the OA flight to FCO several times. Irrespective of OAs shortcomings I cannot, for one minute, buy into that story.

OA412,

Agree with you that with OA's FA uniform it is impossible for tits (hairy or otherwise) to fall out. As for missing tooth, highly unlikely for a FA. But if Jmc1975 mentioned FA with hips as wide as the aisle, I would certainly believe him, as I have seen those all too many times on OA.

I'd fly El Al in a flash. It is, by far, the safest airline to fly.

I've avoided CI and will continue to do so based on their track record. I prefer EVA by far.

Anyone who put Southwest on their list is in my opinion ludicrous. Either that or a spoiled brat who must have first class seating to feel good about themselves.

I feel safe on any US based airline, qantas, JAL, Air Canada, BA, Virgin, Air France, Lufthansa and KLM. Anything else I "would never fly" with the exception of some charters.

You guys have to be some of the pickiest people in the world. Have you guys actually flown with these airlines or are you just saying you would never fly them because of some rumor you have heard? If it is for a safety record I can understand but for other reasons is absurd. For me, as an aviation fanatic I would love to try out any new airline or plane. Remember...the most dangerous part about flying is still the drive to the airport.

Its not that they are a bad or unsafe airline. Its just the fact that you know the flight is a target, more so than a US airliner. Also at this time I am staying away from "supporting" either side.

Before the crash of CI611, I wouldn't have minded flying on China Airlines. Now, no way! Even though the crash may have nothing to do with CI, it's changed my view of the airline completely. That's really the only airline that I wouldn't want to fly on at this time. There are a few others that I would prefer not to fly on but wouldn't mind if I had to, but as for CI, right now, a big NO  Smile

i would never fly with Air New Zealand. Not only did they do the dirty on a great airline (Ansett) BUT they also robbed the livelyhood of 16000 hard working aussies who all loved their job. and just to be honest i wouldnt give any airline owned by heartless basturds a damn cent especially with that crappy ugly looking livery on their aircraft.
virginblue for me all the way (cheap and a nice clean slate backed by brand new aircrafts, gotta love those 738 winglets) oh yeah nice looking FA's too

I don't know why people think EL AL is soooo safe to fly just because they have security guards on board! The reason they've got security is because they're so at risk!

I wonder how many people who say they would never fly SU or KE have actually ever tried them.

They are both better than ANY US airline I have ever flown not to mention being a whole lot cheaper. As for the FA's, no contest !

Homer Air.

They are a small 135 carrier up here in Alaska.

Flying with them would involve breaking one of my airline travel resolutions.

DO NOT ADVANCE PURCHASE TICKETS ON ANY CARRIER OWNED, RAN, MANAGED OR CONSULTED BY NEIL BERGHT!!!!

Jgore, you mention only 2 crashes from El Al. Don't forget the 3rd: the El Al 742 crashing in an Amsterdam suburb in '92. Reason: lack of technical maintenance from El Al.

Bibeb: He may have left the AMS crash out because that was actually El Al Cargo.

Englandair: Of course they need the security, but the fact that they have it and it has been very successful is re-assuring. I'd fly 'em. As much as a hot-spot as Israel has been and will forever be and to not have had any terrorist related incidents is pretty darn good.

Cheers!

I'm sorry for being rude for a moment, but I personally think that some people are absolutely 'idiots', what's wrong with Koreanair, Air China, Aeroflot and a few other airlines? I doubt how many of you have ever flown with those carriers, if you haven't experienced their flights, please don't tell us your 'un-sourced bloody ideas', because you know nothing about them!!!

By the way, I have been went on Koreanair and Aeroflot flights for several times and I frequently flew with Air China in the past 10 years, I still do and I will keep to travel with Air China. I would say that a lot of developed countries' airlines (PS: I have been onboarded most highly developed countries' flag carriers) are no better than those carriers who are based in developing countries in many aspects.

Just want to tell some of you, don't always think you are the best, the truth is that you're not and a lot of western aviation professors are increasingly and accordingly believe that Asian carriers are actually operating most world's first class air travel services and products!

Think it is funny why everyone lists airline with a bad safety record or airline which had crashes. I flew already SU, CI, KE, ... and I would fly them also in the future.

Why no-one listed DL, AA, UA etc.
I know, there are so many planes flying all over but for someone who listed CI, KE etc. I think they should also list US Airlines.

Either you list ALL or NONE
