Buying Tickets From Canada To The US Online

Sun Jun 16, 2002 8:59 pm

Guys,

I will be moving to Canada soon... and have no idea where to purchase the cheapest tix ...

In Australia it's cheapest to purchase advance purchase fares online on Qantas and Virgin Blue's website.

Is it cheapest to check all the airlines direct online? (if so - are there any budget Airlines like Jetsgo that go from Canada to US?)

or to use a common booking site?

or visit a travel agent downtown in montreal?

Many many thanks  Smile  Smile

Have always used Yahoo with quite acceptable results. Of course, depending on where you live, it may be easier and cheaper to buy e-tickets departing from a US airport (i.e., SeaTac when you live in Vancouver/Victoria) to a US destination. It's often much cheaper.

Yahoo does seem to be better than travel agents lately, although if you can get a student deal (TravelCuts) then you're much better off.

Hope this helps.

Cheers.

I use Expedia.com or Travelocity.com or aircanada.com or usairways.com. United.com also can have lower fares then calling the airline itself.

I also use Expedia.com to buy tickets for my mother from YYZ to JAN -- they usually beat the airline sites and they quote in CDN$ if you use expedia.ca rather than .com.

try itravel2000.com.

I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.

The lowest fares are usally charters. A good travel agency should be able to help you out.

Try these Cdn airlines:
WestJet http://c2dsp.westjet.com/internet/sky/ for travel to & from western & central Cda.
Air Transat http://www.airtransat.com/en/0_0.asp
Air Canada Tango http://www.flytango.com/en/

http://www.travelocity.ca/ & http://www.expedia.ca/ (not the .com) are excellent, but you need to buy your tickets at least 2 weeks in advance. I have good experiences with Expedia.ca.

Cdn. Online travel agencies are:
http://www.destina.ca/cgi-bin/destina/custmgt/cm_language_selection.jsp
http://www.canoe.ca/Travel/home.html

PS. We also have the GST in Cda (add 7%).
