Japan Air Force - Boeing 744

Thu Jun 27, 2002 10:49 pm

I know both of the planes are normally used by the Japanese emperor and other government flights.
Who does it use else? Koizumi, for all his trips?

In the other topic of a charter LH to NRT for the World Cup final I have seen that German chancellor Schroeder will fly also on the JAF 744. Will they pick him up in Germany with the plane?

Who has more details about the interior of this plane?

I understand Schroeder and Koizumi will fly from the G8 summit directly to Japan.

P.S.: Isn´t the real name something like "Self-Defence Force"? Big grin

JASDF - Japan Air Self Defence Force. Substitute 'Maritime' and 'Land' for Air and you have the whole set.

Are you sure these planes are JASDF ? Japanese big-wigs usually fly JAL.

I've seen the V.I.P. 747-400's at LHR a few times, I think it's a hybrid JAL/JASDF operation.
I expect JAL maintain the aircraft.

are not JAL aircraft, those are JASDF 747-47Cs, previously registered JA8091/92 now maked as 20-1101/02 repectively. They are used for government VIP functions (like taking the Japanese PM to Calgary for the G8 this week)

Well the two 747's that arrived here in Calgary are just like the ones in the picture from the above post. They went by the radio call signs 'Japan Air Force 1' and 'Japan Air Force 2'.

Hmmmmm.... Interesting question...

Swissgabe, where did you find that photo of the two young ladies for the GF pic thread? I am very curious to find out what is "WildWeasel..."

The interior is shown Here.

http://members.jcom.home.ne.jp/nsgw/cygnus2.jpg

Both the pilots and flight attendants are the members of
JASDF. They are the successer of "Zero" fighter. Smokin cool
The maintenance is commissioned by JAL.

Besides VIP missions, they are assigned to get Japanese
taken refuge out of critical area oversea when neccessary.

Just click right on the picture and check out the domain it shows under "Details" or something like this... (it should appear as http://wickedweasel.com). Enjoy  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Seems to be very useful, but is it an actual pic? It looks like 1980 style...
Have seen it once late in the evening at HND. Looks great this 747-400 and the best thing, there are two!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Thanks a lot for this link and the two nice pictures. Have taken them your self?
Are you Japanese?
Next time when I'm around Tokyo I would love to go for spottering around HND and I hope to catch at least one of the two 744...!

Cheers
