Just thought I'd pass along some AA servic updates.
a)Effective Nov, ERJ-135s will operate ORD-CLE/AZM/HSV/XNA, as well as LGA-CLE(6/day!)
b)All AA 727-200 flights into the NYC area will end 15 Dec. with the exception of 1 r/t EWR-SJU/ORD each. LGA 727 service ends on October 31st.
c)Expanded 737-800 service to Hartford, Buffalo, Reno, Detroit, San Diego, San Jose, Boston, Seattle, and San Francisco

A side note...
American Eagle is also starting ERJ-135 service to Columbus, Ohio, and is also expanding their current weekend nonstop ERJ-145 service from Columbus to Miami to daily.

FlyAA757, who told you that there would be no more 727 flying into the New York City area? American still has 72 727's in its fleet and the last one is expected to be retired end of 2003. So you see, American will continue to operate the 727 for 4 more years. I know Delta will still have 727's until 2005.

American 767, do a check of AA's timetable and answer your own question. With the exception of 2 EWR flights, American is removing 727s from NYC service.

Not to start any bad feelings here, the removal of AA 727s at LGA and EWR is only a winter schedule adjustment, nothing permenant. Look at AA,s web site pull up flights between MIA and LGA for june and july 2000 and you will see 3-4 727s a day. AA moves planes around the system at diffrent times of the year. The only place you will most likely never see a AA 727 is the west coast, but it can happen....

AAs 727s will be in MIA for a long time, they are more suited for MIA then the MD-80s because of the bigger cargo and baggage capacity...People traveling to Latin America and the Carribbean carry lots of big and heavy boxes and luggage most of which wont fit into the MD-80s cargo holds, you put a cart full of that stuff on and the plane is already bulked out...The 727-223s have bigger holds and a little more space for the bigger stuff. As for the 737-823s into MIA, not sure but were going to add more cities to the list early next year.......

Any idea when I might start seeing them in Houston (IAH)? I've heard that AA might replace a 727 on ORD-IAH but this is just scuttlebutt, far from firm info...

ANOTHER "STRONG RUMOR" IS THAT AA WILL BEGIN SJCHNL SERVICE IN JULY 1, 2000. FLIGHT 35 WILL DEPART SJC AT 1545 AND ARRIVE HNL AT 1850. FLIGHT 46 WILL DEPART HNL 2300 AND ARRIVE SJC AT 0700 (TO COMPLY WITH SJC'S CURFEW). EQUIPMENT WILL MOST CERTAINLY BE A B757

I don't know when American will phase out the Fokker 100's but I can tell you that they won't get rid of them that soon. The Fokker 100 being young, the oldest one is not even ten years old, it'll be in the fleet for many years to come. It's a nice aircraft and I don't see any reason why they should get rid of it, also they should have bought another 75 of them (remember they had an additional 75 on option) to bring their fleet up to 150 Fokker 100's, that would have been nice. You can be sure that beyond 2010, all 75 Fokker 100's will still be in the fleet, most of them flying to destinations within 1000 miles from their Chicago O'Hare hub (the last one will be retired before 2015 I think). American is the most important operator of the type in the world. I like the Fokker 100.
