The New USAirways Schedule (11/2/02)

Sat Aug 31, 2002 2:10 am

Check out this link....it shows every change that USAirways is making to its schedule in every market.

http://www.usairways.com/travel/current_operations/sked_change.pdf

Looks like PIT is taking the biggest hit....no surprise. CLT takes a decent hit too. PHL and LGA do pretty well. Looks like the intra-Florida hub at TPA is being dismantled.

Interesting, seems that they've taking away quite a few long-hauls and are beginning to make PIT look like CO's CLE...

wow...PIT was raped. The few flights that wern't cut outright have been turned from mainline/RJ to prop flights. I noticed quite a few markets that have more frequencies to Washington-National than to their hub at PIT. I do believe that at least a few of these cuts are seasonal (mainly the flights out west) However, they cut the already dwindling and ever popular PIT-Florida flights nearly in half just in time for the snowbirds heading south for the winter.
PIT-PBI 1 flight
PIT-FLL 1 flight
PIT-TPA 3 flights
PIT-MCO 4 flights
PIT-RSW 0 flights
I know that these flights where probably low yielding for US Airways....but I think that they represent a blairing opportunity for AirTran.

Looks like PHL lost one of its two LGW runs per day. At this point, I wonder if BA will keep both their LHR flights? Would there be scope for a third UK-bound carrier here?

NJTurnpike: The flight that PHL lost is a normal seasonal change. PHL-LGW always runs 2 daily flights in the summer and 1 in the winter. The only un-normal cut from transatlantic flights was the PIT-CDG. Perhaps it is seasonal now too?

Do I feel foolish...thanks pgh234  Smile

(Still, the premise remains; a third US-UK carrier at PHL would not be unwelcome..)

PIT-CDG was already announced as a seasonal route.

PHL only lost 9 flights. Wow. Compared to 81 at PIT.

Looks like FL won the TLH market. I guess that they will probably stay in TPA-TLH for awhile at least as almost 300 seats are pulled off that route. TPA-MIA also loses 180 seats, although FL is adding 2 717 flights TPA-MIA and 1 TPA-TLH.

BWI lost another 10, down to 44 flights. ROC is gone(already known), along with Charleston WV, LA, San Fran, and Seattle.

How about downgrades? I'm sure there will be some flights that go to a 319 instead of a 734. Anybody know of any?

One more thing: anybody notice the 7 new IAD-LGA flights? Maybe expecting more revenue on that with a UA codeshare.

Wow, I am really surprised with DEN. No change in number of flights!

Infact up until recently, DEN recieved 9 US Airways flights. Then on August 1, they started a 4th PIT flight, so it went up to 10.

The 4th PIT is being dropped now (goes back to 3) and PHL gets a 4th flight. So still 10 flights.

Interesting.....

I expected DEN to be cut down to 5 flights.

The cut of SEA is so sad. 5 flights! Anyone have any clue as to why? SEA had more US Airways flights than DEN, now DEN is in the lead.

VERY disappointing. Some strange moves if you ask me.

Lowfareair: I know that PIT-LGW has been downgraded to a 767. There is a lot of other downgrades through-out the system from mainline/RJ to Props.

Haveric: I was not aware that PIT-CDG was announced as seasonal. I know that PIT-LGW,CDG were dropped last year after 9/11 but I didn't know that CDG was to become a yearly thing because it was never dropped in previous years.

very surprised to see that phl only saw 9 cuts, could this be that usairways feels phl is their most valuable hub, even though it has the least number of flts. i wonder if there will be any other carriers low-fare or not who will add a few flts to make up for the loss. maybe an airtran flt from mco-pit, alaska sea-phl, maybe 1 or 2 additional flts florida-phl, more airtran flts at bwi-i think they had already planned more flts at bwi before this announcement, maybe AA adding a mia-phl flt or starting a mia-pit flt.

PHL dropped two flights to SEA from PHL. Maybe it really is time for AS to come in.

Is BDA mostly summer seasonal? All but the flight to PHL is being dropped.

Looks like the twice-daily service from CLT to SAN is being dropped. That brings USAirways flights to SAN down to 5 (3 from PIT, 2 from PHL).

Sad news Sad.
