How To Make U.S. Domestic Airline Meal Delicious

Fri Oct 04, 2002 10:00 am

I think I'm going to print this photo and carry it in my
wallet. If I'm "lucky" enough to get a meal on a U.S.
domestic flight, I'll look the picture out and everything
on my plate will suddenly become delicious...  Big grin

Photo as shown on Airlinemeal.net. It was a flight from
Moscow to Vladivostok on Aeroflot...  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

That is a meal on the 8 and half hour flight from SVO to VVO...

Most U.S. prisons feed inmates better than that!  Big grin

Oh, just put some hot sauce on that thing and call it a meal.
Its better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air than be in the air wishing you were on the ground. Fly safe!

The love the way you guys always find ways to bash Aeroflot.

You may want to get your facts straight before you post stuff like that.

That pic is actually the snack on the flight. And is actually quiet tasty, much better then the cardboard sandwiches with plastic cheese you see on US carries.

The main meal on the flight is very good as well.
Another thing to remember is that, its mostly Russian's who fly aeroflot domestic, so you may not like the food but just about everyone on the flight would disagree with you.

Sometimes you people need to look out side the box really.

If US carriers still insist on serving Turkey sandwiches I suggest they cut down on the thickness of the bun and increase the thickness of the Turkey slice. Oh don't put too much lettuce, cabbage, or tomatoes as it will induce FART!  Big grin

The person who took the picture did say this was a
"Lunch - Mystery meat, rice, fish appetizer?, dark bread, cookies..."

I actually think Aeroflot's food is pretty decent when compared with other int'l airlines. (speaking only from experience on flights between US & Russia)  Big grin

I've always though that US domestic airlines should serve Pret A Manger sandwiches.

How great would that be!

They could even sell them

Maybe if they served the food instead of the box it came in, maybe it would be delicious!  Big grin

Really, what they need to do is instead of the premade sandwiches, perhaps maybe they ought to let you make your own sandwich, either by presenting you with a choice of fillings, or by having a set type, but have everything wrapped separately (I really hate getting a soggy sandwich) to maintain optimal quality. I myself would rather just go over to Le Petite Bistro before I get onboard and get one of their sandwiches (I recommend the roast beef and brie) to take on board. What you must realize is that inflight meals have to meet one very important criteria: they must be cost-efficent. A great gourmet meal in flight would be great, but the expense is too much for most airlines. Yes, some airlines have brought well-regarded chefs in to help develop meals, but what it all boils down to is cost. If you really want a delicious meal inflight, charter yourself a bizjet or fly on the Concorde.

Aside from the rare business class upgrade I can't honestly say any economy meal I have ever has been incredible! The worst I have to say was China Airlines (CI) TPE-YVR 30JUL which was unfortunate as everything else on the flight was surprisingly good!

I actually like the food on US Airways flights (yes, even Coach lol) But I'm biased, as I have been eating their food ever since I was 2 years old...Anyway, IMHO, US Airways Coach is just fine, and First Class is even better!

CORRECTION: I have been eating US Airways food since I was 2 months old, not years.
