CO All Jet, Or Not?

Wed Oct 16, 2002 9:58 am

I can't remember exactly when it was, but one big ad campian of Continental was that they were all jet. But they have an outfit called Continental Connection which flies to a lot of places from HPN (ROC, BOS, ALB) using B1900s which I belive are from US. Are they all jet or is Co Connection not technically a part of them?

Continental Connection in ROC is operated by Commutair . They used to fly USAir Express with Beach 1900D's.

That means they are still getting there. But it does cost quite a bit of money.

BR: The "enroute to an all jet plane" is pictured in 1999, I thought they went all jet.

They still use ATR's Ellington Field-IAH , at least they did in June.

...and I occasionally see an ATR on IAH-DAL, though I think it is only as equipment substitution.

CoEx is planning the retirement of the remaining ATRs on December 6th. IAH is the only base in the system with ATRs left. After 12/6, they will be all jet.

I remember seeing the ATR's and Brasilias all the time here in ROC going to EWR and CLE back a few years ago.

ExpressJet, which comprises most of Continental's feeder service, is a separate company that was spun off from Continental in an IPO last April. I believe it is ExpressJet's goal to have an all jet fleet. Commutair operates props for Continental Connection, but is not part of ExpressJet.

I hope this helps.
