Quick UAL Mileage Plus Question

Thu Dec 12, 2002 3:53 pm

Quick question-

When you qualify for Premier Executive or 1k status, and don't meet the given mileage requirements the following year, does United reduce you more than one level in a given year?

I remember back in the day, I qualified for Gold Medallion status one year and then didn't fly Delta at all the next year, but I still received a Silver Medallion card the following year. Delta's website outlining the new Medallion program lists that they do that as well. US Airways does/did do this as well.

Heh I'm trying to cram in the last few miles, but I doubt I'll get as many as I want.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

This happened to my dad. He was a Premier Exec and then the next year didn't even qualify for Premier. He wrote them a nice letter saying how upset he was that he didn't get at least a premier status again, especially after flying over 1 million miles with them over the past 20+ years. They renewed his Premier Exec card for another year. I don't think this is customary though, so I wouldn't, especially not now, count on it.

Aio86:

If your dad has flown over 1 million miles (actual miles, not bonus), then he has lifetime Premier status anyway.

Zrs70 is almost right - AFAIK, 1 million base miles gives automatic 1P status for life.  Smile. Sweet. I only have another 900,000 to go....

As far as re-qualifiying, I think it is possible to drop to zero status if you don't requalify for 2P, although I'm no autority on the matter. However, it never hurts to ask them! Every time I've had to ask an MP question about Premier status (qualified for the first time this year, had lots of questions!), I've e-mailed UAL and receieved a curtious reply within 24 hours, even for very daft questions.

cheers, Phil.

If you do not requalify you go back to the bottom. It is a year to year qualifier. I am 1 K and have been for many years. I am sure next year (2003) I will not qualify for 1 K since I will be flying oneworld alot, and will lose all status with UA.
