Airport Codes. (humor)

Mon Mar 10, 2003 4:54 am

While browsing through some aviation related sites I stumbled on the airport code for Port Antonio, Jamaica - POT. Now, if that doesn't stigmatize a country I don't know what will.
Oh... And right above it was the airport code for Piarco International in Trinidad (Port of Spain) - POS. sigh  Sad

You are correct, that IATA code is perfect for a Jamaican city

Rotorua, New Zealand = ROT.
Quite appropriate as the city has a strong smell of sulphur (like rotten eggs) due to all it's volcanic activity.
Dunedin, NZ is DUD. The local city council actually tried to get this changed, without success.  Smile

One time at AA, we had a supervisor call from a pax traveling to Fresno. Complaint: Pax thought destination tag was an insult to her. Good thing she was not traveling to Fukuoka.

Back when Houston’s Intercontinental Airport was renamed George Bush Intercontinental, I thought they would change the three letter designator to RML.

Read My Lips.

I agree with the DCA rename to Ronald Regan. WTF they name that town after – Buggs Bunny? Didn’t he can loads of ATCs?

What happens when XNA gets renamed in honor of Bill Clinton? What is a good code?

I know, three letter designators are rarely changed.

Sioux City = SUX?! Ha Ha Ha!

See, I knew Capt. Haynes Should have taken the Interstate option.

IMHO, No pilot in his right mind would land a damaged DC-10 at and airport that SUX. ROTFLMAO!
