Well all of you are lucky! The DC-10 is my favourite aircraft and I have never been on one. I was hoping i'd get to fly on the DC-10 when I went to Florida last year with MyTravel, but we went on the A330. I've been to Florida 3 times once with MYT but they just don't use the DC-10 on that route.

Very significant trip as it was my first time in USA. I was there on a 14-day tour.

American Airlines LAX-ORD-BUF...I was maybe 12 yrs old at the time. I have many fond memories flying on this bird. My last trip on a DC-10 was a AA DFW-LAX flight. I didn't know at the time it would be my last ever DC-10 flight. Today the DC-10 is still one of my top favorite aircrafts ever. Regards.

March 2002, NW DTW-MSP. Around that time, the new terminal in Detroit opened and it was a major crisis. Because of severe staffing problems, Mesaba enlisted help from ramp agents at every other Mesaba station, paid for hotel and per diem to be there. I thought it would be kind of fun to try out another airport so I went there for a weekend. While it was neat to see and be a part of another airport's operations, the work was tough. It was brutal, bad weather, 50 mph winds gusting to 70 mph, fun times. At the end of it all, I was looking very forward to going home. I got on the second to last flight of the night, got a window seat in first on this grand DC10 and went home. What a fun plane. Very big inside. The first plane I'd ever been on where all the cargo was loaded into cans  Smile Hopefully I'll have time this summer to take one to Europe.

February 1999
Tenerife to Manchester on Monarch Airlines G-DMCA.
I was suprised that we ended up on this aircraft as we had an A300 on the outbound trip. I am so glad I got a chance to fly the DC-10 however it's no suprise Monarch have since retired this aircraft as it just doesn't give the same comfort as modern airliners which we have all come to expect.

My first DC-10 flight was on Northwest Airlines when i went from minneapolis to orlando in 1995. We flew down on a 40 series and back on a 40 series. It was such an excellent plane to fly on and the onboard movie was cool runnings. I loved it!!

My first flight on a DC-10 would be in early February of 1991 from DFW-LGW, totally empty because of the Gulf War, but a beautiful flight in J.

I flew as a 2 year old with Air New Zealand from LAX to AKL and then when 5 years old from AKL through to Heathrow. I can still remember vividly the lightning strike mid Pacific that knocked out the cabin lights! That was back in 77.

I shall miss the 10....

Mine was back in 1977 when I flew from BRU to JNB with a stop in FIH. I was at that time 7 years old, the DC-10 was new, and I was invited by the crew to visit the cockpit inflight on the second leg from FIH to JNB. It was nighttime upon boarding in BRU, I remember seeing the flight attendants walking though the aisles inside the aircraft minutes before boarding, and I was thrilled to hear the pilot applying full power during take off. It was the first time I ever visited the cockpit of an airliner, and I remember walking though the cargo compartment before reaching the cockpit. It was a DC-10-30 Combi, the 747's and DC-10's at Sabena used to be in a combi pax/cargo configuration.

My first DC-10 flight with American was in 1988 from DFW to BOS.

My first flight on a DC-10 was back in December of 1983, it was on United, but I don't remember the origin or destination, probably because I was only 6 months old. But I rode on it in the process of going back east on the way to the Bahamas...

So my first MEMORABLE DC-10 flight was April of 1998. From MSP-SEA on Northwest.

...oh well, the first day I ever set my foot onboard such a trijet, November 26, 1986, I actually flew 2 different DC-10's, first with SAS DC-10-30 OY-KDA ARN-OSL-JFK, continuing the trip with Eastern DC-10-30 N392EA JFK-MIA, EA flight delayed for hours due to poor weather conditions...

...those were the days...  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

The aircraft was quite old, but well maintained. The inflight service was surprisingly very good too. Inflight entertainment? Better left unsaid.

Hi.

My first was actually 2 flights with United DC-10's. I explain. In the summer 1998 I was to fly from Chicago to Seattle, before I reserved my flight I tried to see what equipment United operated in that long transamerican flight, I had 3 options:

744 - Direct flight
777 - Direct flight
DC-10 - Via Denver

I decided to fly in the DC-10 because the other two airliners were quite new and I knew that sooner or latter I would fly in those ( latter I got my first ride in BA 744's ). We left Chicago flying United DC-10-10 N1811U still with old colours, when we were close to Denver the F/A said to us not to take anything from our places because they would just clean it and we would continue our flight to Seattle, 2 or 3 minutes before we landed the same F/A said that we should take all our stuff and go to another gate at Denver airport, that gave the feeling that we would have to change planes and actually we did! We moved to N1847U to continue our flight to Seattle, and after I arrived there I was really happy because I choosed the DC-10, I got a bonus with that, flying 2 DC-10's instead of one!!!

Mine was in July 94 on an AA DC-10 from San Juan to Dallas Fort-Worth (on my way to Las Vegas). Those were the good ole days when the DC-10 was flying SJU-DFW route rather than the 757's now.

Mine was malaysia airlines:

Kuala lumpur - adelaide via Darwin
September 1994

And what a flight! After travelling from London to Kuala Lumpur on a brand new 747-400 then being put on a DC10 for the remainder of the flight, what a difference. Though iam pleased i did it.

MNL-HKG on Swissair - this was less than a week after the Swissair crash and the flight was virtually empty. I was stunned that I was served a full meal on what was a relatively short (1hr 55min) flight. I was suppose to be on a CX flight that was delayed by a hole 15 minutes and they decided to repro me on Swissair to make sure I made my connection to Brisbane.

Malaysia Airlines - then known as MAS - Malaysian Airlines System during Christmas 1983 between KUL and HKG - seen here landing at Kai Tak as I had back then. It was a pretty memorable flight as we (my large extended family about 30 of us) shared the main Economy cabin with the Brazillian football players who had just played a friendly against Malaysia... still have the inflight magazine with some of their autographs on the (then) very limited MAS Route Network!

My one and only DC-10 flight was on an American Airlines DC-10-30 in July 1999, HNL-LAX. The aircraft was very nice inside, comparable almost to a 747 cabin.
