Tristar & Nato Training A/c In BUF

Sun Apr 27, 2003 9:05 pm

To all:

AirTransat made its' weekly return to BUF on friday. I was hoping for the return of their A332 so I could try for some better pics than I took last week;
however, they showed up with one of their short-length Tristars(I'm ok with that). I had thought that they only had -500's, but I must be wrong.

Also, three dark blue or black military training jets departed BUF in rapid succession on Friday about 2pm. From where I was, they appeared to be NATO Hawks perhaps staging through on the way back to Canada, but I really couldn't tell. Anybody get a better look?

zrb2: Any departure info on these from your service?

regards,

F4N

I thought the -500's where the short body Tristars. The shortened body added range (see 747SF)

It was the -1 and -100's that had the longer body, They also lacked the triangle fairing below the inlet to #2 that the -500's had
OBAMA-WORST PRESIDENT EVER....Even SKOORB would be better.

I have yet to see the new Hawks. Hopefully at an Air Show this year.

Nice looking plane. Would love to see it there sometime.

I missed it F4N. Looks like the only unusual visitor today is a Falcon Air Express 727 from Nassau, Bahamas due in at about 5:45pm, then on to MIA.
Don't know if that's charter or cargo?

L-188:

You are correct about the 500 being the short-fuselage variant. I got it backwards. Ususally one of the longer variants shows up here(300's?).

zrb2:

I saw the Falcon Air Express 727; neat looking a/c. Since my house faces east in Clarence, I'm looking into the sun behind it at this time of day. I probably would have thought it FedEx if you hadn't told me. I'm disappointed about the trainers on Friday. While foreign military a/c occasionally transit through BUF, it's a rare event. Incidently, some USN P-3's staged through today. Too bad everything is in grey; can't make out a thing.

best regards,

F4N
