Well, naturally my hometown airport, DTM:

* 15 minutes to get there by car from my place
* moderately priced parking
* short distances from parking deck to check-in and to the gate
* fairly good retailing opportunities and a few bars
* nice architectural and functional terminal design
* a visitor's deck to kill some time
* some traffic to keep you interested but not too much to make the place crowded and stressfull (2002 saw about 1 Mio. passengers)

My favourite small airport is Deauville St Gartain (sp ?) in France, wonderful litle airport and lovely place Smile

Santa Barbara, California. By far the easiest airport to arrive and depart through, and absolutely beautiful with its classic buildings and lack of jetways!

My Favourite is Nassau International in the Bahamas. I dont know why but i just love that airport. That is really the only small airport i been to. And it is not that small either only airport with service to LHR is medium to me. Last time this was discused some people said FLL and MCI i dont agree that the 63rd and 71st largest airports in the world count.

With my username, I could not say anything else than CMF. Beautiful approach in the mountains and over a lake, tarmac access for me...

However, I kinda like LFLE a lot as well.

Stinson Field (KSSF) in beautiful San Antonio Tx. The second oldest general aviation airport in the US (mute witness of my first solo flight) Big thumbs up

, I like Isle of Man airport UK. It's very easy to negotiate, it's in a nice setting and there's plenty of turboprops!

ABE is an alright airport. We have alot more more direct than we did, parking is right out front, and check-in is a breeze. But, during the pilot sick-out at UA, we sat in ABE for 2.5 hours and 6 in ORD. I'll take the 6 in ORD any day!!!

I must say Fort Collins/Loveland in colorado. 4 Flights a week. All Charters to LAS. My least favorite I must say HPN White Plains, NY. I also must give dibbs to TXK Texarkana Arkansas. Only AE Sabb 340 & DL EMB-120.

The AFB) (ABQ / KABQ), USA - New Mexico">ABQ Sunport is terrific. The southwest/adobe theme is carried throughout and is beautiful. Parking is easy. Security screening is generally pretty smooth (you have to be careful though not to get caught in a Southwest (WN) rush). Great indoor observation deck. They share runways with Kirtland AFB, so you can watch military a/c too.

The best feature is the display case in the main terminal where they have models of every airline and aircraft that has flown into AFB) (ABQ / KABQ), USA - New Mexico">ABQ International. It is fun to see.

I would have to say that PDK is my favorite small airport, you can go and watch a variety of airplanes in there. No airliners, but I have seen anywhere from a C-150 to a G-5. Pretty impressive, and they have bleachers that you can watch all the action from near the runway.

I would have to go with PVD. Easy to get in and out of, you're never too far from your gate, and it's nowhere remotely near as much of a pain as Logan.

I go along with SNA but also like nearby ONT which is kept so clean and shiny that you could eat off the floors. YYG (Charlottetown, PEI) is definitely off the beaten track but is nevertheless a nice, small airport with all the services.

I'm with Ntspelich. PVD is great. In addition to excellent highway access and parking, PVD's terminal is also very comfortable and has every amenity you'd ever need, including 2 Dunkin Donuts, gift shops, and a TGI Friday's.

In the US, I like Buffalo Niagara Airport -- It has been recently renovated. The look and feel is very open and spacious. The parking lot and the car rentals are right outside the terminal -- no bus or train service to some far out land. The food court and shopping is limited but sufficient for the size of the airport.

In international airports, I like the new satellitle terminal (and overall airport) at Keflavik airport in Iceland. I love seeing all those beautiful Icelandair planes come in and leave in a series in the mornings and afternoons. Car park is right outside as well, as are car rental places. The shopping venues are quite limited, and the customs hall is quite narrow, but again, that is part of the older terminal. Overall, though, Keflavik is a great airport.

SAV is a very nice, aesthetically pleasing airport; I think it truly fits into the "small" category.

AUS is also very appealing, although I don't know if you would consider it "small." If small means a non-hub, then I would put AUS and SAV at the top of my list.

Love watching all the celebrities roll their birds out of the hangars - plus it's a historic field with several cute art deco buildings from the old DC days.

MHT..Manchester, NH..15 mins from home, easy parking, nice facility.

RE Nassau, The Bahamas..nice airport. I prefer it when arriving as opposed
to returning to the US, however Wink/being sarcastic

I agree with Clrd2go...Manchester, NH is a beautiful airport, nice setting, nice terminal. Much easier to negotiate than Logan. Also, Hanscom Field in my hometown of Bedford, Mass....though I've never flown out of it, I go there now and then to watch the general aviation traffic, and the occasional US Airways flight (and occasional blimp and C-130). Nice spot 500 feet from the threshold of RY 5, no security.

SRQ is a great airport...if an LCC flew into it, I'd use it all the time (are you listening, JetBlue? Perhaps when the Embraers start arriving?)

My favourite small airport (2 gates...) is Connellan (AYQ, Ayers Rock) - nothing particular about the airport itself, just a friendly place and the inherent coolness of being in the middle of the Outback.

My favorite small airport is BRN, familiar and in the middle of beautiful Switzerland with a great mountain background (if nice clear weather)

I'll chime in with my 5 favorite small/med size (non-hub) airports. My criteria is cleanliness, ease of use, and hometown (regional) feel to it. Also, I am only choosing from airports I've actually visited.

PVD- Providence
BUF- Buffalo-Niagara
CHS- Charleston, SC
OGG- Maui
MSN- Madison, WI

Honorable mention is Tucson but I need to re-visit it after all the construction.

Compared to MIA I consider FLL a medium sized airport and because of its ease it's number 1 on my list (though someone said it should not be considered). Otherwise I would say Tamiami Airport (in West Dade County) takes the prize. It has public access and you can get really close to the action. They have everything from props to nice biz jets to vintage warcraft. They also have a lot of helicopter movements which is nice to see.

BUF is very nice since it was redone. My favorites at the moment (meaning I go there a lot) are FLO (2 gates and 13 flights a day) and CAE. Both are very easy to get in an out of. HSV is easy to work with as well.
