Does anyone know if there have been any attempts at opperating an all business or first class service (other than Concorde)? For some reason, I recall that LH may have operated a dailys between FRA and JFK on a 737 that was entirely business class, but I can't seem to verify it.
I'm only asking because I found it interesting that in Richard Branson's autobiography, he stated that when he was initially approached about forming VS, his partner wanted to have an all biz class service.
ANy help would be great.

PrivatAir currently operates several such services for Lufthansa...DUS-ORD, DUS-EWR, and I think MUC-ORD?...the flights are operated with a mix of BBJ's and A319LR's...

midwest airlines (formerly midwest express) used to be an all business class domestic (u.s.) carrier. it pretty much still is, though it has initiated an all coach service ("saver service") on lower yield routes. also, legend airlines was an all business class airline, despite being extremely short lived. privatair operates BBJs and ACJs on behalf of lufthansa between ewr and ord and germany. not to mention pre-juan trippe carriers that were all first class.

I also read something about LH flying an all-business class 737 from Germany to the US ... and for some reason I thought it was a (relatively) smaller German market, like DUS or something. Don't know if my memory is wrong or if it didn't last long.

Close, USAFHummer. The MUC flight is routed through EWR.
I flew DUS-EWR when it was still very new, and the flight was great! Felt exactly like sitting on the upper deck of a '47. I think my trip report is still up...you'll have to search, though!

Lufthansa currently operates 3 C-Class only flights, these are:
LH408 MUC-EWR 737
LH412 DUS-EWR 319
LH436 DUS-ORD 319 (I think, maybe a 737 as well)
If memory serves, 408/412 operate 6 days a week, while 436 goes daily. LH seems to be satisfied with the performance of these flights and might add up to 5 more routes in the coming years. All airplanes are equipped with 48 seats.
I was also under the impression that SQ was going to do the SIN-LAX/SFO on a C-only (or mostly-C?) A340-500.
