What Is Your Favorite 737 Series

IU Just flew both ways to Las Vegas from LAX on a B737-300 on Southwest and I have always been a big fan of 737-300 planes. I would like to know what other people have to say.

That's an AWESOME picture by Shawn Byers. I like all of the 737s! Too bad Continental never flew the -400, because they would have flown every single version there was at one point in their history.

I like the -200s & -300s the best. -200s because of the engine whistle, -300 for no apparent reason, I just do.

Goboeing- CO never operated the -600, so they'd be one short I think.

My favourite in the 737 series is the -700, basically the same length as the -300 only newer and better.

My fave 737 would be either the 500 or 600, dunno why just like the short and stubby look Smile

I love the short -500/-600 too, but the -700 is tops in my book for look and feel and the -200 for nostalgic value. The -300/-400 bother me only because the wing seems so cluttered and small for aircraft of their size.

My vote goes for the 800 series.
Its so quite and It's the 737 that I've flown the most.

my fav is the -800 with winglets. i have flown on them 5 times and its great watching the huge 2.5 meter tall winglet bounce up and down like a yo-yo while taxying. (beats watching the same stupid safety demo time after time)

While I'm a big fan of 'Ol Stubby 737-200 and have enjoyed flights on the -300 and -400 series as well, the 737NGs I've flown in, the 700 and 800 are my favorites. They are such smooth flying aircraft, and their new interiors are really nice. The -700 is easily the best looking variant to me, it's proportions are just perfect. I've yet to fly on one equipped with winglets, though.

The NGs are definitely my favorites!

I flew a lot of 200's during my childhood holidays around the med. they where basically standard equiptment for charter airlines back then. The A320 of the day I suppose. However it was my first ride in the new generation 400 that I liked best.

This occured in November 1993 when I flew MAN-TFS on a Futura 737-400 EC-FLD. I liked the less stumpy appearance, and aslo the double overwing exits, which somehow make it look a little more superior. The only other one I have flown was BA's G-GBTA. Now even the 400's are outdated.

Of the next generation I have flown MME-ACE on Futura 737-800 EC-HHH and also EDI-TFS on Air Europa 737-800 EC-HZS, with winglets. I like the new cabin interiors but I will always remember the first 400 I flew in.

I would have to say the 800/900 I like those winglets. The 200 is was a inferior product of the 60's when compared to a 727 or a 707, witch it design come from. I heard a 200 can only cruise at 0.72 compared to a 727 0.84 0r a 707 0.83 or even 800/900 0.78.

out of the 73's ive been on (-300, -500 ,-800), i'd have to say i like the -300 the best. but for looks, the -800 with blended winglets gets my vote, looks espcially good in ATA colors Smile

The least ugly 737 to me is the -800. None are as attractive as an MD80 or even a frog.

-900s (I wish those could be with winglets) and -800s.

But nothing beats the classy -200s.

I've flown on the -200, -300, -500 & -700 and have to say that the -700 is definitely my favorite. The climb to cruising altitude is noticeably quicker compared to the others.

I have flown -200 (US, DL, UA, WN), -300 (DL, US, WN, UA), -400 (US), -500 (WN, UA), -700 (WN), -800 (DL) and I really do like the -400 how US had them configured with extra fuel tanks, etc.

Flying a DL -200 early September SDF - ATL for a connection to FLL. That will be some nostalgia.

Favorite would have to be -700 for now though.

Why hasn't anyone mentioned the -100? I like it because they're very rare, started the best selling airliner in history, and it's the shortest six-across jet built. At least I think so...is the A318 shorter yet?

When I'm flying WN on short-hauls, I prefer the -500 series ... fewer seats, quicker to board and deplane!

I've flown quite a few 737's in my time as well:

-200 (Air Tran, Vanguard, Southwest, Air Cal, America West, Air South, Delta, United, USAir, Piedmont, Casino Express, Alaska)
-300 (Air Cal, American, USAir, Delta, United, America West, Australian, Southwest)
-400 (Alaska)
-500 (Southwest and United)
-700 (Alaska)
-800 (American)
-900 (Alaska)

I would have to say the -900's because it's almost like being in a 757.

I've flown in all models of the 737 except the -100, -200, and the -600. My experiences have all been pretty good, but I have to choose the -700 over all the other models. It's power to weight ratio gives it a much better takeoff performance over the -800 and the -900. It gets off the runway much more quickly (plus you don't have to worry about tail strikes) and climbs much more easily than its longer counterparts. The flights I've been on have all been smooth and quiet. Also, the newness of these aircraft eliminates the shakes and vibrations that come with age. And I am a sucker for the NG flight deck!

My vote would be for any of the CFM engined variants. AQ once had the -300 and -400 (2 each), but got rid of them because they claimed it was not profitable to fly them (???), that the -200 was better suited for them. I was told by the AQ CEO himself that the CFMs are not suited for our inter-island flights. I have yet to ride on an AQ -700, but I know I will like the ride. AQ needs to replace the -200s, maybe with the -500 or -600, because of noise regs, and the fact that HA now has the 717-200.
