A quick search on A.net shows at least seven or eight aircraft in the Song fleet!

What exactly do you mean?

I think he means a different type of a/c? I am right Lga1011? I don't really see it happening, but who knows.

What I meant is after they get all 36 757s and are successful will they expand with a different airplane in the future, maybe 737 or 767s, from mainline delta.

I think the whole point of Song was to stick with one aircraft type. My guess would be that Delta will wait to see how much revenue Song pulls in, and if it's sucessful, they might pick up more 757's from either the mainline fleet, on the market, or if they hurry, from Boeing itself.

Not a single aircraft is offering it yet! Small print when they advertise mentions not available to 2004.

Flew them EWR-FLL-EWR last week and the F/As on both legs told me that PTVs will be added starting in October of this year.

I think they should look into changing the color on the a/c, green is not the best color to put on a 757.

Scott-

My flight this Friday is a little after 7pm I believe. We were originally scheduled to fly B6 but I am taking 5 ap classes this year (out of 6 total, junior year, the big one) and as you can imagine I have lots of work. Also 3 of them are Social Studies and we test on Friday so I cannot afford to miss school. My father changed my flight to later time so I could attend school however Song offered cheaper fares than B6. Anyways I am excited to try them out (but pissed off about not having PTVs activated like JetBlue's). On the return I am taking B6 just like we normally planned.

There had been some discussion in the past about possibly putting some 737-800s with Song, but that was just airliners.net speculation.

Song was orriginally supposed to have 4 different schemes, green obvious, but I think an orange a blue and maybe a purple. Did they decide not to do the four schemes?

I think all the Song a/c are nearly brand new.

Didn't they get the new ceiling panels, and the whole new overhead bins, etc. along witht he new seats so they look brand new? Why didn't Song just have the seats installed with the PTVs?

The Song airplanes are the newest 757s in the DL Fleet. The PTVs have had some supplier problems. That is why they have delayed installing them. I think the units didn't fit in the seat backs.

I don't know why they backed away from the multi colored fleet. It would have looked cool. Maybe someone thought it was too Branniff like. So far 26 have been painted. Two more are currently having the interior mod and two are in paint.

They say that in October the PTV's will start to be activated, and not fully on all aircraft until sometime in 2004....

If they for sure aren't going to use 4 different colors the biggest reason would be the cost of paint whether or not their planes look like Braniff. Their planes already look goofy in that bright green, giving them other colors would not hurt their image unless they were bright pink or something.

As for other aircraft types, it definetely is a possibility. The one reason is that flight deck crews are from Delta Mainline, not Song. Hence, there is no pay difference for that of a Song captain flying BOS-MCO and a Delta mainline pilot with equal seniority flying ATL-LAX. So, I would say it is a definite possibility if Song works out to maybe see some 737NGs flying lower-volume Song routes, such as the former DLX routes out of PVD, ISP, CMH, and IND.

Is there any word from Delta when they are going to start accepting some of the aircraft they have on deferral from Boeing?

The PTV'S were never intended to be installed until SEP '03 and since then have had a 1 month slide in the schedule. The technology is so new that the lead time was about a year for the full installation however DL mgmt wanted to get the Song product out and in time for the summer season so they pushed the A/C retrofits back to early April.

25 of the 36 aircraft are the newest 757's in the DL fleet with the remaining 11 being the freshest out of HMV and the A/C with the best reliability.

Song Mgmt decided to stay with Lime green instead of going with multiple colors because they felt that the public were identifying with Song with the Kawasaki green and did not want to confuse the brand management of the airline. The cost of paint is not a factor in the color decision because paint is relative inexpensive.

Song has taken all of the New Delta 757s and is now starting to use the older ones. N6711M is one of the new ones. She was a beauty when I was on her. Still smelled new, and the lights were all white.
