At the time I flew on the 717 for the first time (October 1999), it was a rare plane, with AirTran having only two of them in service at the time.

How many 22 year olds do you know that can say they've ridden a Ford Tri-motor?
I, for one, have, at the EAA museum at OSH and it was a flight of a lifetime! And I was only 14 at the time!

Back in the early 60s I flew on a De Haviland Heron....it was a flight from Jersey back to Burnaston.

Unfortunately I was too young to remember the flight and sadly both Burnaston and the Heron are long gone.

The Tu-134 from Amsterdam to Budapest and the return
flight was from Buddapest diverted to Rotterdam due to bad weather at AMS. This was back in '96 and it was one of the last Malev's Tu-134 flights to the Netherlands!  Crying

Aer Lingus Boeing 720's DUB-SNN-JFK on EI-ALA
and
DUB-SNN-BOS on EI-ALC back in the sixties

If the headwinds westbound were too high the 720's had to stop in Gander for fuel.

Also SAS Caravelle (beautiful machine!) DUB-MAN in 1965

I have no memory of this place.

A hansa jet, privately owned, slow and sluggish but very cool, the last one in the air.

I had many happy adventures flying Allegheny Airlines' Convair 580 aircraft around the northeast US years ago while an undergraduate at Pennsylvania State University (SCE) and while a graduate student at Lehigh University (ABE).

Well, I've flown with 747SP several times. Iran Air still uses them although they are more than 30 years old. What can they do? They are not able to buy new fleet because of the sanctions. Shame!

Saab Safir

An extraordinary plane, made in the fifties. Used as a military trainer, and is great for acrobatics! I think it is quite rare, at least now. Experienced 4 g's in it.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy Check the photo for details.

Guess for me was the PA A310, since there are no longer any US airlines that operate that equip, hell I do not think there are many airlines period that operate it. I loved it! I will never forget it!

Rarest was a Ford Tri-Motor in 1967 at Arcata, California. Circled the Humboldt Bay area for about an hour. The plane was owned by a man named Gaylord Moxon who was visiting family. He was from LA area and owned the plane at the time. I remember it was low and slow with great views from the large windows. A great experience!

Flight was CNS-ASP on VH-EWC, only some days before Flight West became history.

Not THAT rare, but still some unique memories.

I would have to say either the BAe-146 or the Fokker F28. Both were from YYC to YXE. Great flights on both aircraft!!

It would have to be A Riley-Turbo Liner on a company called
Air Idaho. (prior to becoming Air Idaho it was Trans Magic Airlines)
It was a 4 engine 16 passenger very similar to a Dehavilland Heron.
I flew from Sun Valley Idaho to Salt Lake City, with an intermediate
stop in Twin Falls
