When Delta 737-200 Retire?

Mon Sep 08, 2003 1:27 pm

I wondering when Delta is going to retire rest of the 737-200? As far I know Delta doesn't own 737-200 and it is lease from Boeing. Can anyone comment about this?

Thanks,

Considering they just brought a few out of the desert and they are taking them from DelEx to mainline, not anytime soon. They need the 100-seat aircraft until a suitable replacement can be found and affordable to fly at mainline.

Which is why they need to consider the 717 or A318. But since Delta does not have any airbus in the fleet, I would hope they can opp for the 717. Just think how neat it would look in the colors.....anyway..

Someone on here said before that DL's 732's were among the newest made (late 80s), so I imagine that DL is not in a hurry to get rid of them.

Delta has, that I know of, 33 of the -232s...with some second-tier -200s as well. They have a few more years of service in them. My hunch is that DL will use the 732s for a couple of years yet before replacement. Regards.

Does any other US carrier I've actually heard of (not counting little Elko Air et al) still fly 737-200s?
fly Saha Air 707s daily from Tehran's downtown Mehrabad to Mashhad, Kish Island and Ahwaz

I'm pretty sure that Southwest still does. And Frontier has a few left as well. Also America West may have some left, but I'm not positive of this one. Regards.

I know that WN still operate 732's on intra-Texas routes, but I think they will all be gone by the end of the year. Also I know that America West uses them too, but I don't know for how much longer. In fact they still use them on MCI-PHX.
